Wiring Harness Installation - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Today on this 2002 Chevrolet Impala we are going to install part number 118002 from Tow Ready. I have theses fasteners here just to make it a little easier to get the carpet down. All right and with this wiring harness right here we will go ahead and test each individual wire to find out its function and we will go ahead and make the appropriate connection. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Today on this 2002 Chevrolet Venture we are going to install part number 118355 from Tow Ready. This T- One wire harness actually connects inside the vehicle on the driver side underneath the interior panel. Okay, it is going to be behind this panel right here. So to get to this panel we have to take off this threshold first. When you take this threshold off, there is a bunch of little connections in here. And this one button here rips very easy so be careful when you take it apart. Okay, we will take this fastener apart. And then we will start peeling back the panel. All right, we pulled the panel back, now we have access to our port right here. On some models, this port is actually down below the A/ C unit sometimes too. So it can be a real bear to find but we got lucky here and it is pretty much right out in the open. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2009 Chevy Silverado

Today on this 2009 Chevrolet Silverado we are going to be installing the replacement Twist-In 7-Way Connector, part number PK11916. If we look back here at the rear of the vehicle, on the upper side of the step bumper, you can see we have got a factory knock-out plug here. This is where our Twist-In Connector is going to plug into. We are actually going to remove this cover here we are actually going to put our new 7-way plug in its place. To remove the knock-out cover, we need to just depress this tab here on the bumper, and that is going to allow us to twist counter-clockwise. I am just going to depress the tab here and disconnect the two. more

Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 20110 on a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD. OK, the first thing I am going to do is to go ahead and point out the components here of our wiring harness. You can see we have got a 7-pole plug that has got pins and a connection point on the back side. At the one end it has got the single plug that is going to be plugging directly into there. And that is the part that we are actually going to be mounting in the bed of the truck. At the other end you can see we have two plugs. These are actually going to be plugging in-line to the existing 7-pole that we have mounted to the bumper on our truck. I am going to mount it here on the drivers side, just rearward of our wheel well. You always want to check before you drill your hole to make sure you have got enough room on the underside. There is a big enough chamber behind there to where we can not only mount our plug but that we are not going to drill into any components. I am going to be using a 2-inch hole saw. That should give us enough room to get the whole encased portion of the 7-pole inside there. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2004 Chevrolet Impala

Today we are going to be installing a 4-pole, part number 118002, on a 2004 Chevrolet Impala. OK, we are inside the trunk area, and we want to go ahead and access the wires that we are going to be tapping into for our wiring harness. Those wires are actually located directly behind the tail light assemblies on both sides of the vehicle. In order to gain access to those wires, we are going to need to go inside the trunk area and we will first off need to remove these three screws per side and then pull back our carpeting. And you can actually see there are two more set screws that we are going to need to remove as well. And with all the set screws removed, I can go ahead and pull the tail light assembly off. As you can see, here is our main wiring harness, feeding the drivers side tail light assembly here. We have got three wires here. We have got a brown with white, which is going to be the running light lead that we are going to be tapping into the yellow, which is our left turn and left brake signal and then the black, which is the standard ground. And then what we want to do is to take our yellow wire here off of our wiring harness, and we want to go ahead and we are going to attach it directly to the yellow wire on our tail light assembly. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

All right, today we are going to install part number 118002 from Tow Ready. And we are going to install this 4-Flat Car End on a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer. And we will show you how to mount it. It comes as a very simple kit. It comes with a 4-pole flat for the car end, and also four wire caps to tap into the wiring on the vehicle. What is really nice about the GMC Jimmy and the Blazer we have here is that the wiring harness is actually already provided for a towing package. They all have it, and it is located actually behind the license plate light right here, zip-tied to the back side of the bumper. So just cut the zip-tie, basically, pull it down, and all your wires are there, ready to go. And on the harness here, it actually tells you what wire does what function, so that is pretty handy. So what you want to do is go ahead and pull up the tape on the wires here. They are staggered, so you are going to go up pretty far to get to the ends of each wire. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Chevrolet Impala

Today we are going to install part number 118417 from Tow Ready. We are going to install this on a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. To install the T-1 connector, we have to get back behind the tail light assembly here and behind this plastic. We are also going to be taking off the passengers side tail light, too. And this whole panel will just pop up straight vertical. And we are going to take off this other wing nut right here. Now that we have got our tail light loose, we are going to just temporarily disconnect it from the wiring harness. And then this actual plug right here is where our T-1 connector is going to hook up to the vehicle. We will reconnect the T-1 connector back in, and just tuck that back between the bumper fascia and the body. And we are also going to take our 4-pole wire, and we are going to route that straight down, because that is going to come out by the hitch itself. Make sure to leave that ground wire, because we are going to attach it to the sheet metal below the tail light. And we will just clip our original wire harness back on. more

Today we are going to install part number PK11916 from Tow Ready, and we are going to install this wiring part on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Basically, what you are going to do is take this plate here and twist it sideways until a key comes out. And you pull out the blank and the wire harness right here. Undo the wire harness by just pushing down this pin right here, and it comes right apart. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Today we are going to install part number 118172 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to hard wire this onto a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette. To get access to the wiring, we are going to take off one of the tail lights on each side. Because it is in fact all empty behind here, what we will do is run our wiring up above this license plate here, right next to the license plate light, and then make our connections behind the tail lights. The first step involved is to go ahead and take off the tail lights, one on each end. There is a little screw that comes out from inside, it is located right here. There is a little screw in this area right about here you take out and the light comes off. And you have access to your wiring right here. We will go ahead and just take the lens off for now. We want to do that one on each side. We will go ahead and peel back some of this tape on here to get a little more access to the wire itself. At this point you can actually test the wires and see which function does what. Black is going to be ground, brown is going to be the running light, and yellow is going to be the left-turn signal. more

So what we want to do is go ahead and disconnect the two pieces, and then we are going to plug our T-harness in line to that. OK, then we just want to find a suitable grounding point for the ground screw here. We can probably use this metal surface that the T-harness is connected to. OK, with the harness grounded, our installation is complete. This concludes the installation of part number 118319 on a 1993 Chevy Suburban. more

We will begin our install by getting inside the vehicle and getting to the jack storage compartment. Once you take out the jack, reach down and you can actually feel for the wire harness down here. Feel around until you find the plastic plug. It does not come out far, but you can see it right here. And you pull it up. There is not much slack in it, but that is the connector right there. It is at the very bottom of the jack storage compartment. And simply your T-1 connector will just plug right into it. And also then your ground connector can connect to the ground wire that is at the bottom of the compartment. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Chevy Impala

Today we are going to install part number 118417 on a 2007 Chevy Impala. The connection point for the T1 wiring harness is behind the passenger side tail light assembly. Right behind the bumper here. To access this we will have to open up the trunk and remove some of the fasteners to get the tail assembly off. We need to gain access to the fasteners that are holding the tail light assembly on. In doing so we are going to need to remove this screw here, there is one on each side. That will allow us to remove this back flange here. It might be sort of hard to see but there are actually 3 fasteners holding the tail light assembly on. We need to take all 3 of these off. That will allow us to remove the tail light assembly. Then you just want to carefully pry away and you can see the tail light assembly removes fairly easily. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Chevy Uplander

First well open up the rear door and start disassembling the tail lights and take them off the body. Well go ahead and take off one of the tail lights here. Theres two torque bolts that need to be taken out and light pops off from the housing. Okay the lights are off so now its time to start installing the wire. What well do is push the four pole through the cavity between the bumper and the body and out the bottom plus the end for the passengers side too. Well leave the end for the drivers side tail light up in the air, well make the connections with the harness and the tail light. With the drivers side tail light re-installed, pull out all your slack on your line here, what well do next is thread it through behind these bumper brackets. Well go across all four of them, what well do is take some extra zip ties and tie it to that so they wont be dangling and in the way. Now that weve gotten to the other side of the vehicle, well take our T-1 connector passenger side end and push it up the pocket and pull it out the other side. Now well pull the harness out of the cavity and go ahead and make our connections. While were at it well take up a little bit of slack by using the zip tie to tie the wire to itself. While were her well install our ground wire. Now we re-install our passenger light. more

7-Way Wiring Harness Installation - 1998 Chevy Silverado - Video

7-Way Wiring Harness Installation - 1998 Chevy Silverado

When pulling a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer it is convenient to be able to plug the trailers electrical connector right into the bed of the truck. This is safer for the wiring and easier for you as you will not have to spend time securing the wiring along the trailer and then back down to the bumper. Most trucks have factory installed tow packages and custom wiring which can be quickly added and installed in the truck bed. Here Chris has a video showing us what he had to do to set up a 1998 Chevy truck, you will be surprised at how fast it can be done. more

The 2007 Silverado body style as well as the 2008 styles have a place on the bumper where the plug can be mounted. We remove the cover here to give us the hole to mount the plug into place. Once weve removed the knockout from the bumper area well place the harness into position. Were going to have to drill holes out to mount this into place. You can use either a pen to mark the holes or a punch tool which is what Im going to use. Now we can move onto the drilling. Once we get the holes drilled, we want to mount the connector into place with the existing fasteners. Once we have the fasteners in we want to secure them with the nuts on the back side and tighten them down. Once weve mounted the plug onto the bumper area, we just need to make the connection up underneath the vehicle here. This is the back end of the connector we just installed, and this is the other side of the factory 7 peg connector. You just want to plug these together. This concludes the installation of wiring harness part # 30955 on a 2007 Chevy Silverado. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Chevy HHR

Today we are going to install part number 118407 on our 2007 Chevy HHR. This install has everything kept on the inside of the vehicle. So we will open up the hatch and remove a few panels to get to it. The wiring cables we need to get to are behind this panel and also on the passenger side as well. We will also remove this carpet and paneling so that we can run the wires left and right. Also we must get to the spare tire cover. Then this panel that covers up the threshold you can simply pop off this panel and there is an identical one on the other side. Connecting the driver side first we will run the wires underneath the sheet metal and plastic. Pulling it up through the hole left by the paneling here. Then we can disconnect the wiring from the tail light and this T-Connector can fit. Then this end goes back onto the light socket. Then at the bottom here there is a ground stud we can use to attach our wire. Then we will take the other half of the harness and run it across the preexisting wiring harness and over past the battery. We will run the harness up and connect it to the tail light. more
