Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Pontiac Solstice

Today on a 2009 Pontiac Solstice we are going to install part number 11119 from Curt. First we will go ahead and show you where the hitch will mount up onto the frame. As you can see there is an oval hole off to the left-hand side. The hardware is going to use that existing hole to attach the hitch to. However o n some models there is two existing holes, if the second additional hole is not already drilled in the frame you will need to drill it out yourself. As shown here this is the drivers side which is identical to the passenger side. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004 Pontiac Montana

Today we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13336 on a 2004 Pontiac Montana. All right, we are underneath the vehicle, and we are looking at the passengers side frame rail. You can see here at the bottom we have got three existing bolts in the frame. We are going to be removing those. And those weld nuts in the frame are going to be providing our three attaching points here at the bottom of the frame. And that will be the same on both sides of the vehicle. You can see also on the side of the frame we have got this hole just below this square slot. We are also going to be putting a bolt and block into the frame and pulling it out this way, and that will provide an attaching point on the side of the frame. And again, that will be the same on both sides of the vehicle. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Pontiac Montana

Today we are going to install part number 87410 from Hidden Hitch, and we are going to install this on a 2003 Pontiac Montana. We will show you where the hitch mounts up on the vehicle. It is actually going to bolt up in this location right here where these existing bolts are. The bolts will get replaced by new hardware, and it will be the frame, the hitch, and then the exhaust hanger we will bolt on top of that with the new hardware. And on the other side here, this is pretty open. It is going to bolt up into these threaded holes right here. Now, some models will have a compressor bracket right here. In this case we do not have it, so we do not have to worry about modifying anything right there. Also, in addition to these two attaching points, there is a hole that gets drilled out in the frame here, too. This hole is going to be on the other side - on the passengers side, as well. And there is an existing hole that you install hardware on, on the passengers side, also. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Pontiac Torrent - Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Pontiac Torrent

Today we are going to do an install on a 2006 Pontiac Torrent by Draw-Tite, part number 36408. Before you install your hitch it might be best to find all your mounting locations, just to get familiar with the underside of your car. There are six holes total: there are two on each side of the frame, one low and one high and those are notorious for being dirty, so before you start the install it would be best to run a bolt in and out. Maybe spray some lubricant on it to ream any debris out of the hole, so it will be a lot easier when you are raising up the hitch to get a bolt started. Next we have the center of the vehicle, and there are two holes. These are both threaded on this particular model, so you will need to fish wire the carriage bolts in place. And the drivers side is definitely going to be the harder side of the install, because there are two, just like the other side, but they are between the muffler and the outer fascia. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004-05 Pontiac Vibe - Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004-05 Pontiac Vibe

This is a hitch on a 2004-05 Pontiac Vibe. This one has preexisting fasteners in the frame right here, which in this case are a little bit corroded out. So, we will have to clean them out first with a bolt and some WD-40 to run through so we can fasten the hitch on. We already sprayed down the bolt. Then we are just going to run the bolt a little bit and then back them up. Put a little bit more in and go at it again. Just keep going at it until the bolt starts to spin freely, like it is doing now. You probably will not have to worry about much like that. One down, three to go. Work on the other two. Sometimes they do not go in right off the bat. And once you get the bolt half way in, it backs out pretty easy. Chances are you are pretty much down with that part. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Pontiac Montana - Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Pontiac Montana

Today we are going to do an install of part number 90148 on our 2005 Montana. The first thing I am going to show you is where the hitch goes. It will mount up here. These two bolts will come out temporarily, and this exhaust bracket will come off temporarily. The hitch will mount up with these bolts here, and the hitch will serve as a template to drill out two holes. There will be one up here in this general vicinity and back here. On some models, these holes are pre-existing. It just depends on what you have. And on the drivers side it will mount on these two holes here and plus an additional hole up in this general area here will have to be drilled out also. Now these bolts will be replaced by the bolts that come with the hitch. All right, on some models you might actually have an air compressor that is a load-leveling device. That comes equipped on some models. If you have that you should only need one bolt on there and then the other bolt hole will actually be covered up. What you do is put the hitch upon there like normal go ahead and drill out the second hole - just through the bracket, and try not to hit the nut. And then take the hitch back down. Then put the hitch up flat to the frame. And then the bracket for the compressor goes on top of the hitch. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2002 Pontiac Grand Am - Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2002 Pontiac Grand Am

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 36288 on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. All right, we are under the vehicle, and the first thing we are going to do is locate the two 8-mm bumper bolts on the inboard side. There is one on each side. And we want to go ahead and remove the nut from each one of those. And now that we have got the nut removed, we want to go ahead and cut off the bottom portion of this plastic flange that is attached to the front side of the bolt. This is going to allow us to unthread the bolt out of this hole here. And we want to go ahead and do that on both sides. And with the bolt extracted, we want to go ahead and kind of open up this gap here in between the two pieces of metal where we removed the bolt. There is still a little clip in there that was kind of holding the bolt in place, and we need to get that out of the way. So we kind of pry this open and the clip will fall right out for you. And, again, we need to make sure we do that on both sides. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix - Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

Today we are going to install part number 24659 and this also applies to part number 60833. This install will be on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. So the first thing we will do is clear out the spare tire cover so we can get down to the trunk pan. Right after we ware finished with that we will take out these rubber plugs and there will be a plate that mounts over these. Now we will be enlarging the 2 existing holes in the bumper to the left and right. Hardware can be installed next using this channel right here. At this point we can go ahead and hang our hitch by the bumper bolts. After getting the hitch into position we can go ahead and get our bolts on the inside and fasten your hitch. What we will do next is install a plate that goes down here. To prevent entry of a mixture of exhaust fumes and water or what not. more
