There are four main hangers that we are going to need to lower the exhaust off of. Over here on the drivers side we have two, these two can simply be pulled off their hangers. All right first off we will show you where the hitch gets installed on the vehicle. And the next thing, to get the hardware in the frame we are going to enlarge this hole right here. And to do that we are going to use a hole saw. It is going to be the same thing on the passenger side that we are looking at here. And this hole we are going to enlarge with the hole saw. First we will start off, we will just go ahead and make our access holes. It is going to be the same thing on the passenger side. All right we will go ahead and fish wire our hardware and we will use our fish wire tool. We will just push it through down to the hole we made and pull it out the other side. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004 Nissan Xterra

Today we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13183 on a 2004 Nissan Xterra. OK, we are underneath the vehicle, and the first thing you want to do is to go ahead and remove the spare tire to get it out of the way. Taking a look at the passengers side frame rail here, you can see we have got one, two, three existing holes here at the bottom of the frame. Those are going to provide our attaching points on both sides of the vehicle. With the installation kit, you do have this long plate that it comes with, one for each side of the vehicle. One end has a flat edge the other end has a rounded edge. The rounded edge is the part that actually needs to go inside the frame. The flat edge will be the one toward the bumper. We will just lay that in there and align it over the existing holes. And then we are just going to take our carriage bolts that are provided in the installation kit, and we are going to them down into all three locations. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Nissan Rogue

Today we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13185 on a 2009 Nissan Rogue. We are underneath the vehicle and we are looking at the drivers side frame rail. You can see we have got three existing weld nuts here at the bottom of the frame that we are going to be using as the attaching points for the trailer hitch. It may be necessary to clean these weld nuts out if there is any road grime or corrosion built up in them. And over here on the passengers side, you can see we have got an existing tow hook that we are going to need to remove. It is held on here by two screws here on the vertical side of the frame and then two at the bottom as well. Once these are removed, they are going to provide the two attaching points for the hitch at the rear side. We are also going to use this existing hole here at the forward side. We are also going to need to remove this small screw here in the middle, which is going to interfere with the hitch sitting flush against the frame. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2000 Nissan Pathfinder - Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2000 Nissan Pathfinder

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 75077 from Draw-Tite on a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. And this installation will also apply to the Hidden Hitch part number 70609. We are underneath the vehicle now, and I am going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. We are on the drivers side, the outboard side of the frame, and you can see there is a factory tow hook here. There is one of these on each side of the vehicle. The hitch is actually going to replace these tow hooks, so if you want to remove them - the bolts - they are holding the tow hook in place, and they need to be removed and come down. And clamped in here is also a fourth weld nut that we are going to use as the mounting location as well. It is toward the rear of the frame you will be able to see it once we get the tow hook removed. As you can also see, the small control box here on the drivers side is going to be in the way of me removing the bolts from the side of the frame and getting the hitch up into place. So we want to lower this down and out of the way as well. There are three bolts holding the box in place - one here on the outboard side, one here at the rear, and one here on the inboard side as well. So we are going to ahead and remove that first, and then remove the tow hooks from both sides of the vehicle. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Nissan Titan - Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Nissan Titan

Today we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 70530 on a 2006 Nissan Titan. OK, we are underneath the vehicle now, and we are going to go ahead and point out the attaching points for the trailer hitch. Looking at the drivers side frame rail, you can see here, at the rear end of the nearest bumper, you have got two weld nuts that are going to provide the rearmost attaching points for the hitch. And then there is one a little bit forward of the spring bracket, right here, that will be the third attaching point for the hitch as well. And it will be the same on both sides of the vehicle. If the vehicle is a little bit older, it may be necessary to clean out all these weld nuts. There may be some road grime in there, and it makes it a little difficult to get the bolts threaded in. So the first thing you want to do is just, like I say, clean them out and make sure the bolts go in easily. And once you have done that, you can go ahead and put the hitch up into position. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Nissan Altima

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 60873 from Hidden Hitch on a 2008 Nissan Altima. OK, the first thing we want to do is to open up the trunk and remove the carpeting from the trunk floor as well as any fiberboard bins that may be located in here, as well. The first thing we want to do is to remove the ground wire off of the exhaust here. Then, after that, we are going to come over and unbolt the exhaust from the flange here, and remove both bolts, which is going to allow us to take the exhaust off of the rubber isolator hanger, which is up in here. And then we want to repeat that for the other side, as well. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Nissan Frontier

Today we are going to be installing part number 87539 from Hidden Hitch on a 2007 Nissan Frontier pickup. OK we are underneath the vehicle now. And, looking at the drivers side frame rail, you can see the three attaching points at the bottom of the frame. These are weld nuts, but we are just going to be taking the bolts that were provided with the installation kit and throwing them up into there. A lot of times you will have some corrosion built up in these nuts. What I have already done is sprayed some spray lubricant like WD-40 up into there and cleaned them out really well so that the bolts can thread in there more easily. And once we have got the bolts cleaned out we can go ahead and put the hitch up into place. more

Today we are going to be installing part number 13831 on a 2003 Nissan Frontier. All right, we are under the vehicle here, and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting holes. You can see right here on the drivers side frame rail there are three holes, one large and two smaller holes. Set that over the top, where it will align through the holes. Go ahead and put our bolts down through, like that. And then we want to go ahead and do the same thing for the passenger side. as well. And now we have got the plate in place along with the bolts, we can go ahead and put the hitch up into position. We just want to attach it with the nuts that are provided. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Nissan Xterra

The first step involved is opening the tailgate and lowering the spare tire. There are two factory bolts on each side that have to be removed this one comes out, and this one comes out. Leave this one in its place. You dont have to touch that one. The other attachment point will be this hole here. This is identical on both sides. The trucks prepared, now we can install our hitch up on the frame. Temporarily install it by a couple of bolts to hold it in place, then we can work our other bolts in. Just so you know we used two bolts which well come back to later to install the spacers that go behind the hitch and the frame. With your temporary bolts in position you can put the hitch up where its supposed to go and we still have plenty of movement to go around. Going back to the first bolt we put in, we take that out and theres a washer that goes between the hitch and the frame more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Nissan Murano - Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Nissan Murano

Today we are going to install part number 90073 on our 2005 Nissan Murano. The first thing we are going to do is loosen the exhaust. What we need to do is the lower the exhaust in front of the muffler. Bring it down an inch or so. You can also put a strap around it to hold it in place and maybe lower a little further if you need to. We will start by taking down this bracket here. Next we move on to the exhaust hangers this is where it is good to invest in a ratchet wrench. It makes things a lot easier. Now this bracket must come off and stay off by taking out the 2 bolts up in front and 2 on the backside. Then these rubber hangers have to come off so we can lower everything down. How we do that is spray them down with some WD40 which will make it a little easier to pry them off. more
