Today on this 2004 Jeep Wrangler we will be installing Curt hitch part number 13408. We are underneath the Wrangler here and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. Looking here at the driver side frame rail, this particular model has a factory installed tow hook. Some models have it, some models do not. If you do, you have to go ahead and have that removed. Take it off by removing the two bolts here. And we just need to remove the handle nut from inside the frame there. The mounting holes for both sides of the vehicle are going to be the weld nut here that is at the end of the frame and the larger, oblong hole here just forward of the weld nut. more

Today on this 1991 Jeep Cherokee we will be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 75054. This installation will also apply to Hidden Hitch part number 87591. Okay we are underneath the vehicle and the first thing we want to do is to figure out the configuration of the frame that you might have. The Cherokees have five different frame options. So you need to figure that out before we get started. The holes that we are going to be using here, this one, this one, this one, and this one. And those will be our four attaching points for the trailer hitch. And it will be the same here on the passenger side as well. You can see we have got the exhaust over here, but the hitch will go up and around that. more

Today on this 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 87752. This installation will also apply to the Draw-Tite part number 75338. Okay we are underneath the vehicle. We are looking at the rear bumper structure, we have four holes that we will be using as our attaching point for the trailer hitch. The hitch is actually going to go up around both sides of the bumper structure and we are going to put the bolts through each one of the holes and attach it to the weld nuts built into the hitch. more

Today on this 2000 Jeep Wrangler we are going to install part number 75193 from Draw-Tite. This will also apply to part number 87431 from Hidden Hitch. I will go ahead and show you where the hitch mounts up on the frame of the vehicle. It is going to mount up using existing threaded holes in the frame here. This bolt will get replaced by the hardware in the kit and also to attach to the side of the frame you will use the existing hole. This is actually going to be identical on both sides of the vehicle. more

Today we are going to install part number 13408 from Curt, and we are going to install this on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler. What is going to happen is we are going to install where this bolt is. It will reuse this existing hole that comes with a new fastener, and also this existing hole here in the frame. Also, to give us a little bit extra working room, we are going to disconnect the exhaust at these two bolts right here, just to give us a little more flexibility so we have a little bit more room to work. All right, next we will install our hardware for this hole here. Sometimes, if this hole is not big enough, there is a bigger access hole further up in the frame and you can pull it through. But in this case we actually have enough room to just do everything in one spot. Put it in the hole we are going to use, push it up in there, put our block in there, and pull it back through. more

Today we are going to be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 36423 on a 2007 Jeep Compass. OK, we are underneath the vehicle, and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. Looking at the passengers side frame rail, you can see on the inboard side here we have got two existing holes. The hitch is actually going to come up the arms are going to come here on the inboard side. We are going to take the 5/8 bolts that are provided in the installation kit and we are going to slide them from the outboard side to the inboard side, and the hitch will go up onto those. And we are going to do that same thing for both sides of the vehicle. So I am going to take the bolts back out, and then we will go ahead and put the hitch up into position. more

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 70594 from Hidden Hitch on a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We are underneath the vehicle now, and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting holes for the trailer hitch. Looking here at the passengers side frame rail, you can see we have got two existing bolts here. We are going to be removing those two. And the third one, which is a little more hidden, is going to provide the rearmost attaching point for the hitch. Yours may or may not have a bolt in this location. If it does, you are going to need to remove as well. As you can see, in this particular model the weld nut is extremely corroded, so we are going to need to clean that out thoroughly before we get started. What I am going to use is just a regular spray lubricant, like a WD-40, and just soak that up pretty good. You can also use a basic battery terminal cleaner. You can pick them up at any local auto parts store. It has got a nice, thick, wire brush that we can use to put up into the weld nut that will allow us to clean it out thoroughly, get all the road grime and rust out of there. And I have found that this works as well as anything to get the corrosion and stuff out of there. Then, over here on the drivers side, we are going to be using the same attaching points. As you can see, on this particular model we have got a factory-installed tow hook and also a mounting bracket that is going to need to come down first before we can install the hitch as well. more

Today we are going to install part number 13657 from Curt on a Jeep Wrangler, 1996 model. So where the hitch mounts is on these four bolts here that hold the bumper right on. The hitch gets mounted in this place here and the bumper just gets left off. All right, we will go ahead and do the same thing for the other side of the vehicle. Now, sometimes they get clogged up with dirt, so it is a good idea to spray it down with some cleaner and get out all the loose junk that accumulates in there. more

Today we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 87567 on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. OK, looking underneath the vehicle, we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. We are taking a look at the passengers side right now, and as you can see, there are two existing studs. We are going to use those as two of the attaching points. And then, more forward on the frame, there is an existing weld nut right here that we are going to use as the third attaching point. And then over here on the drivers side you can see we have got the same studs and weld nut at the forward side, but on this particular vehicle we have got a fuel tank skid shield that we need to remove first. And then we can put the hitch up into place. To remove it, again, we just need to remove the two nuts off of the studs here at the rear of the frame, and then remove the bolt at the forward attachment point. more

Today we are going to install part number 13044 from Curt, and we are going to install this Class III receiver hitch on a 2006 Jeep Liberty. We will show you where the hitch mounts up. It is going to mount up along three holes in the frame here, here and here. And this has a skid shield in place. Your vehicle may not have the skid shield, so it is going to have the empty three holes. And it is going to be the same thing on the other side. In this case, this actually comes down with a recovery hook that is in place. This whole piece and assembly will actually have to come down and stay off when the hitch is installed. Again, there are three bolts on each side behind this hook, too, just like on the passengers side. more

Today we are going to install part number 13084 from Curt, and we are going to install this on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. First we will show you where the hitch installs on the vehicle. First off, it installs on four bolt holes: right here, here, here and on the very end of the frame. And there are three different configurations of this vehicle, depending on when and where it was made. On some vehicles, it is kind of rare, but they will actually have a plate inside of here with weld nuts inside there, so it would be easy just to screw bolts into it and be done. It is either going to be like this, where it is no bolt holes or no weld nuts in there or with weld nuts on the drivers side. And on the passengers side, it is going to go onto the same locations. And a lot of times, it will have that plate with all the weld nuts in it. It is more common to have it on this side than on the other side. Either way, this installation is the same you have still got these bolt holes. What you want to do is clean out these bolt holes, too, just to make sure you get rid of all the dirt and grime that get worked up in there. And also you will find this drivers side without any hardware on the inside, either. And then the last thing is that, usually, this bolt right here is notorious for being a real pain to get back out. It will make all kinds of creaking noises as you back it out. It is just the way it is made, I guess, because of the lock type that is in there, but it is a real pain to get out. But it will not break just take your time and keep working it out. more

Today we are going to install hitch part number 87752 on a 2006 Jeep Commander. This hitch will also fit the Jeep Grand Cherokee as well. All right, the first thing we are going to do is to go ahead and lower the spare tire and get that out of the way. Now we are under the vehicle here and we are looking at the back bumper crossmember. We want to go ahead and remove the pins going into this crossmember - this pushpin here and this pushpin here as well. That will give us room to be able to put the hitch up under and around this cross tube. A good idea before you put the hitch up into position is to go ahead and run the bolts into the hitch a couple of times to clean up the threads. It is a lot faster and easier because the frame might interfere once the hitch up into position. more

Today we are going to install part number 87424 on a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The hitch itself mounts onto the very end of the last cross member on the vehicle frame itself, and that is of course right behind the plastic bumper here. But it installs in 4 bolt holes here in the center. Basically the hitch wraps around the beam here and the bolts go through and attach it and basically bolt it into place. Our first step we need to do is go ahead and lower the exhaust, basically to help get the muffler out of the way so you can run the bolts straight into the frame. We just needed that little bit of flexibility to get the bolts into place. Now we can simply put our hitch up into place and then run our bolts in. Once you get your bolts started you can go ahead and snug them down. more

First step involves getting access to the bumper, which involves removing the spare tire, which gives you more working room. Next we take off these rivets here and here which are on each side. Take those down and pull the bumper cover back a little bit so well have working room for our hitch. The next two rows we take out will give us access to the back side of the bumper even more. So we take out this one and there will be one on the corresponding more

Before we begin installing, its a good idea to inspect the vehicle first. On this particular model, or any model run into, the nuts installed in the frame can sometimes get corroded. If you look closely you can tell theyre rusted up so the paint is flaking off from the inside. We really need to clean those out before we get started. What you want to do is find yourself a lubricant like WD-40 or some other penetrate that will work to loosen up the rust in there. What you can do is use the bolts that came with the hitch, run them a little bit in a little bit out, just to get the the stuff cleaned out a little bit. In extreme cases you may have to go out and buy a tap, thats the best way if it is too rusted out and you cant see the threads at all. Well try it the conventional way first. It can take a while, we spent 20-25 minutes cleaning all 6 holes out. more

Today we are going to install hitch part number V81800 on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 2 forward most bolts are going to be here and here and they are going to be replaced. We are going to replace them after we put the hitch up. The rear most one is this bolt right here. As you can see there is a strap coming off the gas tank as well. We are going to go ahead and remove this bolt and the strap can stay right there. While we put the hitch into place. We are over on the passenger side now to show you the same bolts but on the opposite side. You have these 2 here that we are going to remove and replace when the hitch goes up. If it does not have a bolt in it then it is an existing weld nut. You want to go ahead and clean that out really good more
