Today we are going to install part number 87516 from Hidden Hitch, and we are going to install this on a 2005 GMC Safari van. Next we are going to go ahead and show you where the hitch mounts up onto the frame. All right, what happens is that the hitch will mount up to the bottom of the frame here, and this bracket right here gets removed, and the hitch replaces that bracket. We are looking at the passengers side here, and it is going to be identical on both sides. We will take these two bolts off, and then this one, and this one. All right, on the install on the hitch, it is actually going to use this bolt hole right here, and it is going to be corroded up pretty easy, so you are probably going to have to paint it out and run a tap through it to get all the dirt and corrosion that has been in there the last few years. more

Today we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13322 on a 2002 GMC Sierra. The first thing you want to do is go ahead and lower the spare tire to get it out of your way. OK, we are looking at the drivers side of the vehicle here. At the bottom of the frame you can see we have got an existing bolt. We are going to be removing that off both sides of the vehicle, and we will be replacing that with new hardware. Just forward of that is an existing hole as well that we are going to be using a carriage bolt and block - just it down from the top of the frame, down into place. And then here on the bumper itself we have got two existing weld nuts. Those are going to provide the rear-most attaching points for the trailer hitch. And again, we are going to be using the hardware that is provided in the installation kit. We will go ahead and take our carriage bolt and block and that into place. The next thing we want to do is go ahead and remove the bolts from the end of the frame rail on both sides, and then we can go ahead and put the hitch up into position. We are going to replace the bolts that came out of the frame with the new 14-millimeter bolts, along with the conical-tooth washers. We are also going to be using those bolts in the bumper as well. more

Today we are going to be installing part number 87458 from Hidden Hitch on a 2007 GMC Canyon. When installing the trailer hitch, the first thing you want to do is to go ahead and lower the spare tire to get it up and out of the way. Looking over here at the passengers side frame rail, we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. As you can see here on the side of the frame, we have got two existing bolts that are holding the bumper onto the frame rail. We are going to be taking these two bolts out and putting the hitch up into position, and those provide the two side-mounted attaching points for the trailer hitch. more

Today we are going to install part number 41921 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this on a 2006 GMC Savana van. We are going to show you where the hitch mounts onto the frame. It uses these four existing holes in the frame - one, two, three, four - and it uses this hole in the side of the frame, too. And it is going to be identical on both sides. To get started, what we need to do is actually drill these holes out to 9/16. They are already 1/2 inch, so it is really easy drilling. And you want to do the same on both sides. more

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 75528 on a 2008 GMC Acadia. And this installation will also apply to Hidden Hitch part number 87435. All right, looking underneath the vehicle here, the first thing we want to do is, if your vehicle has this rear fascia cover on it, we want to go ahead and remove that. There are two screws on each side here. Just give those a half-turn, pull that right off there. And you can see, this particular vehicle has a dual exhaust, and most models do. The first thing we want to do is to go ahead and lower the exhaust down to get it out of the way. We need to remove the exhaust from two hangers. There is one on the inboard side, and one here on the outboard side as well. And there are going to be two for each one on the exhaust. So the first thing we want to do is to go ahead and lower those. I would definitely spraying the studs down with some kind of a spray lubricant like a WD-40. It makes the removal of the rubber hanger a lot easier. Before we release the hangers on the other side, I am going to use a basic tow strap here. I am going to support the exhaust where it merges, because when you lower a both sides of the exhaust, the exhaust will want to fall down, and it may damage your exhaust. So putting the support strap in there will keep it from doing so. more

Today we are going to install a Curt hitch, part number 13322, on a 2006 GMC Sierra. We lowered the spare tire, just so we have more room to work with. And I will go ahead and point out all the mounting locations which we are going to use for the hitch. There is an existing bolt here on the frame rail, and it is on both sides. And then we are going to use the bolt right behind it this is where we are going to have to install hardware. And then in the center there are two more mounting locations on the hitch, and these are already threaded, so this should be pretty straightforward. more

Trailer Hitch Installation: Drop bolts through easy access points on the frame. Next is a simple matter of holding the hitch up and putting the nuts on. Before tightening the bolts up, be sure to center the hitch up with the frame using the edge of a weld. After centering go ahead and tighten the bolts, and the van is ready to go. more
