Today on this 1990 Ford F-150 we are going to install part number 14001 from Curt. One of our first steps this involves is we have to lower our spare tire a little bit to get it out of the way. Sometimes this hanger gets in the way. What you have to do is test it. We will go ahead and put the hitch up. Clamp it into position. Mark our holes, and drill out the holes in the frame. Clamping this up into position can be a little bit of a bear so it is a good idea to have an extra set of hands involved. And you see here we have got our hitch here clamped into position. What we will do next is block our holes where it is going to be drilled. We are going to be drilling here, here, and here. We will start off with the pilot hole about a 1/ 4 inch the way up to a 1/ 2 inch. We have got our holes drilled out on the passenger side here. more

Today on this 2006 Ford Taurus we are going to install a hitch, part number 36313 from Draw-Tite. This will also going to apply to part number 90309 from Hidden Hitch. What we are going to do is actually take down the tie down brackets here on the bumper. We will go ahead and lower our exhaust now, to get a little more working room. We will spray down the rubber hangers and then just push them off. Next thing I am gong to do is take down the carbon canister here. We have to disconnect the electrical plug right here. And also disconnect the vapor hose right here. more

Today on this 2003 Ford E-350 Van we will be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 41906. First thing you want to do is lower the spare tire and get it out of the way. Over here on the driver side frame rail, if your model has the carbon canister attached to the frame rail, we need to remove that as well before we get started. There are two nuts holding the carbon canister here to the outboard side of the frame. So we want to go ahead and take those off and that will allow us to pull the carbon canister out of the way. With the carbon canister out of the way we can go ahead and place the bolts into the frame and then get our hitch going. We will be using different combinations of blocks and washers depending on your particular vehicle. On this E-350 Van, here at the rear attaching point, we are going to be using a flat washer along with the bolt. And in between the frame and the hitch, we will be placing one block. more

Today on this 2002 Ford E-350 Super Duty Van, we are going to install part number 41926 from Draw-Tite. Now we are looking at the driver side of the vehicle frame rail and the hitch is going to mount up using this hole here, this one, and this one right here. It is going to be identical on both sides. This is going to be a really straight forward install. At this point we can already start installing our hardware. We are simply just installing blocks over the holes that we are going to use. Install another block here. And we repeat the same process back on the driver side. Now we can go ahead and put our hitch up, we just have to make sure that we have got a space there between the hitch and the frame at this spot here. If you notice, the frame overlaps here so we have got to take into account that, so it is a nice, straight, even plane. We will go ahead and start hanging the hitch. more

Okay we are underneath the vehicle and we are looking at the driver side frame rail. We are going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for our trailer hitch here. As you can see here at the end of the frame rail we have got two existing holes. We are actually going to be using the longer oblong hole as our rear most attaching point on each side of the vehicle. What we are going to be using is the carriage bolt and block combination that we are actually going to feed through the frame and pull down through this hole. more

We are going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. We are looking at the driver side frame rail. You can see the wires for the existing 4-pole are in the way here so we want to make sure that when we put the hitch up, we pull those up and out of the way. Right above those wires would be the two existing holes here at the end of the frame rail. Those will provide the two rear most attaching points for the trailer hitch. There are three hangers located here at the rear of the vehicle that we need to remove the exhaust off of. One here on the drivers side, one here at the center of the vehicle, and one hereon the passengers side. Before I do remove all three hangers from the exhaust I want to make sure I support the center exhaust tube here. Once we remove the exhaust from its hangers the exhaust could fall and damage itself. I am just going to take a basic ratchet strap here and just hang it from the suspension enough to support the exhaust tube here. We want to just spray the stud here down with a spray lubricant like a WD-40. Then we can just use a crowbar and try to get behind there and pry it off. more

Today we are going to be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 41926 on a 2003 Ford E250 van. We are underneath the vehicle and we are looking at the drivers side frame rail. We are going to go ahead and point out the mounting holes for the trailer hitch. As you can see, this particular van has multiple holes in the bottom of the frame we are going to be using three of them. We are going to start by using the rearmost hole here that has the double-plated end to it. We will be using the one right next to it here, as well, and then the one here. On some models, this carbon canister may interfere with you getting the bolt and block into place. If that is the case, you can take and remove the carbon canister by removing the nuts off of these two studs coming through the other side of the frame that are holding the carbon canister. And the mounting holes are going to be the same on the passengers side. So we are going to go ahead and put the bolt and block assemblies in place, and then we can go ahead and put the hitch up. You will note that there is a slight -off here in the double-piece metal to where the flat portion of the frame is here we are going to need to add a block in between the frame and the hitch when we put it up. We will not need one at the forward location, because you can see the frame slopes down and will level itself out when you put it up. more

OK, today we are going to be installing hitch part number 75526 on a 2007 Ford Edge. OK, before we install the hitch, we need to lower the exhaust unit down. And, on the Ford Edge, there are 3 separate exhaust hangers that we are going to have to lower down. There is one here on the passenger side and there is one in the same location over here on the driver side and there is one directly in the middle, between the 2 exhausts. Before we move the third hanger here, we want to go ahead and put some kind of support under the exhaust because, once this hanger has been removed, the exhaust will fall all the way to the ground. So I am going to just use a regular strap here. Pull it tight underneath so it still allows the exhaust to lower but not lower too much. OK, the next step, we are going to need to remove both, the driver and passenger side, heat shields, which are held on by 3 screws. Before we start the installation you want to be sure to lower the spare tire which allows more clearance when you put the hitch on. The attaching points are going to be located on the outside of the frame, the rearmost is going to be this hole here. There are also two forward attaching points here and here. Were going to go ahead and mount the hitch in place. Using the bolt leader provided were going to feed it through the hole and out the larger hole forward on the frame. You put the block on first, then thread the bolt onto the bolt leader and pull it through the frame. Were going to do the same for the other hole as well. Once youve completed the drivers side, do the same on the passengers side. Once we have all the bolts in place we can torque them down to 75 foot pounds. Then you go ahead and install your bolt. When it pulls through you can go ahead and do the same thing on the other side. more

Today we are going to install part number 75506 from Draw Tite and we are installing it on a 2008 Ford F150. This also applies to Hidden Hitch part number 87418. We will show you where it attaches to the vehicle here. First off attach it by the bumper here by these 2 mounts here. Also by this this part of the frame. Then on the side of this part of the frame also. You do not have to take down the spare tire but we did just for clarity. Before we begin our install what we are going to do is take down this factory 4 pole because later it will be replaced with a different type of connector. But we are going to put it up just to show you how it would fit if you stuck with the 4 pole connector. Next we are going unbolt the bracket in order to remove it. more

Today we are going to install part number V82211 from Valley on our 2005 Ford Escape. To install our hardware the bolts get pulled from the inside out. The hardware ends up being pull through here to all 3 of these holes. You can use a wire pull to get the wire inside and out. You do the same thing on the other side but it is a little bit different. On this model here we have this tie down bracket which gets bolted to this side of the frame here. Also it gets bolted between the frame and the bumper. So we really can not take this down because it is trapped by a bumper. So we are going to have to enlarge a hole back here. Basically what we want to do is enlarge this hole here with a small hole saw. Then we will pull the hardware from one hole to the other. more

Today we are going to do an install of part number 70647 on a 1996 Ford Explorer. This also applies to part number 75083. The first step to installing our hitch is to remove any tow ropes here on the bottom of the vehicle. Sometimes they can be on the passenger side. In this case we do not have to worry about that. The next thing we can do is go ahead and install our hardware. Which the hardware fits in this hole right here and then on the side of the frame right here. What we will do is hang the hitch from this hardware here first. Then we will go ahead and install the rest. When you are putting up the hitch notice that this edge here is hitting here and on the shackle here. What happens on older vehicles is that the suspension sags a little bit. So what we have to do is raise up the body to raise the suspension so that we have room to fit the hitch into. more

Today we are going to do an install of part number 87161 from Hidden Hitch. This hitch install also applies for part number 75082 from Draw Tite. We will install this on a 2002 Ford Ranger with the Edge package. To begin our install we must do a couple things. We have to take out this bolt and the J-Nut on top. Basically it is just a nut that clamps on the frame. It must be removed also. The new hardware will be ped in so that it is pointing straight down. This nut towards the back will stay in place however we will loosen it up so we can have better access to the J nut. Then the last piece of hardware will be going in this hole here. The bolt that we loosen will always stay here in the frame. We will repeat this process for the opposite side. more
