Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Chrysler Town and Country

Today we are going to be installing part number 87451 on a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country. We are over here on the drivers side frame rail, and there are three attaching points: one there, one there, one there. So we are going to need to remove all three of these bolts. All the hardware for the hitch is actually already in the frame of the vehicle so there is going to be no bolt kit that comes with the hitch. Again, it is this one, this one, and this one that need to be removed. And if we go over here to the passengers side, we are going to have to go ahead and take the exhaust off the hanger to access the passengers side bolts. You can kind of see there is one toward the rear here near the bumper, and then one a little bit more forward, as well. We need to remove those bolts. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Today we are going to install part number 60818 from Hidden Hitch on our 2006 Chrysler PT cruiser. This install also applies to part number 24759 from Draw Tite. Alright, the hitch will attach where this tow hook is. This tow hook will be removed and kept off. The hitch will be bolt into place right here and also there will be a part in the frame up a little further around this area that we will have to drill out for access of a carriage bolt. It is basically the same thing on both sides. On the driver side we are going to have to lower the muffler to get to the access there. Also we took down the spare tire for now. Theoretically you should not have to take it down but it makes it just a little bit easier to put the hitch back up against the bumper and then put the spare tire up when you are done. First of all, remove the exhaust hangers. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Chrysler 300C

Today we are going to install part number 13465 from Curt. We are going to install this on a 2007 Chrysler 300c. To begin our install, we have to lower our exhaust out of the way. We actually have to lower it down pretty good, a pretty far distance. Basically we are going to remove this hanger here, we are going to unbolt it here. We will unbolt this hanger also. Now on the back here, we will need to undo this rubber hanger here too. This whole exhaust system will be resting basically on this point right here. So it may be a good idea to throw a strap around the exhaust for safety purposes to it keep it from really falling down. It looks like we have plenty of clearance to do our work here so we do not have to undo that last strap, our last hanger, so we should be in good shape. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Chrysler Pacifica

Today we are going to install part number 87432 from Hidden Hitch. We will be installing this class 3 receiver on a 2003 Chrysler Pacifica. This also will apply to part number 75522 from Draw Tite. To begin our install we actually took down our spare tire. Which is optional but it makes things easier in the long run. Basically what we are going to do here is take out this one bolt here. That should be held up here. And hardware will be pulled through this oval hole here and through the small square hole. 2 more bolts will be coming from the inside out here. It will be the same thing on both sides. Now on the passenger side obviously your exhaust will be in the way so we are going to want to lower it. We lower it by removing the rubber hangers and then getting the exhaust out of the way for more working room. It is also a good idea to use a strap to keep the exhaust from going down all the way. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Chrysler 300 Touring Edition

First step is to lower the exhaust, some models have dual exhaust this particular model has a single. Theres actually four hangers were going to have to lower to get the exhaust down. Two here, one in the front and one in the rear. Then there are two forward most ones. There is one screw holding each hanger in the rear here, so we can just take out those bolts to lower it. Before you lower the forward most exhaust mounts make sure you support the exhaust. When you remove these the exhaust will fall down. Were using a strap here to hold it tight. Pull the forward most ones off the hangers. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Chrysler Town and Country

Today we are going to install part number 87719 from Hidden Hitch. On our 2005 Chrysler Town and Country. This also applies to part number from Draw Tite 75305. Our first step to install is to remove a few bolts. Starting with these 3 bolts in the shackle. You take out the 2 bolts on the outside and then finally the center bolt. Then behind here the first bolt behind it. We need to take this bolt out of there as well. All of this hardware will be reused. The next step is to go ahead and install the hitch. This is a good point to get a second pair of hands. You will have to wiggle it within the hitch itself then bring it back to the rear of the vehicle. We have the hitch hung by one bolt on each side to hold it up. Next we will snug that bolt down and watch the hitch wrap around that center bolt. Sometimes it helps to snug that bolt down and it pops around the center bolt. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Chevy Uplander

One of the first steps involved is we have to remove some parts to have the ability to install the hitch. The pieces that have to be temporarily removed is this support bar right here and this hangar bar gets temporarily removed as well. Next well install the hitch with the four bolts we took out and temporarily install it, then we get ready for drilling. Once you get your hitch temporarily up there, tighten it up just enough so we can move the hitch around so it can be centered on the frame. One point to note on the 2006 model theres the existing weld nut that was for the thinner support on the passengers side gets re-used on this hitch. Run your bolt in there too to make sure youre centered on the frame. Now that you have your hitch centered on the frame, tighten up the bolts the way you want them, because that will help keep the hitch in place while we drill out our holes. Our hitch is in position so well go ahead and drill out our holes. Now that we have our holes drilled out, well go ahead and our handle nut inside the frame. Were going to bolt from the outside in. First well have to bend up the handle nut to make it go into the slot where you want it to. Remember the exhaust bracket we took down earlier, we can go ahead and put that back up now. Well take off the two bolts since the hitch is being held by the other four. Then well just put that bracket back in its place. All our bolts are back in place, all that remains is torquing them down to their specs. Well start with the center ones and work our way out. That does it for our hitch, it was pretty easy to install. One other note this vehicle didnt have a compressor so that made it a little bit easier for us. If it did have that youd have to take the bracket down, put the hitch up over the bracket mark the second hole and drill it out. Other than that, its a really easy hitch to do. more
