Today we are going to do an assembly of part number TP205 from Thule. This is one of their small utility trailers. Now, this assembly video will cover the other trailers in the same line. The main difference is that it is just going to be a little bit smaller trailer. The components are virtually the same. There are a few minor differences but this will cover all the main parts of the assembly. As you can see here, the kit comes with a variety of components. First off, you have the base, or the floor of the trailer, and its frame. And next you have the axle it does come with the tires and wheels - 12 inch tires, in this case. And it does come with the fenders, also. And next we have the hardware assembly. It comes with all complete hardware there is nothing extra needed to buy. And it does come with a couple of small wrenches, too. Also, above that is the lighting assembly. And as you can see, you have the rest of the body components: the two long sides, and the front and rear and finally the tongue itself that will connect your trailer to your hitch. more

Today we are going to show you the Easyline Galvanized Utility Trailer Kit from Thule. The body on these trailers are all galvanized, plated steel, along with the tongue and the coupler. And the axle itself is really nice. There are no springs involved it is an actual torsion axle. And these kits are really easy to put together, consisting of a half-dozen big pieces at most. You have got the axle, you have got the tongue itself, and you have got the sides and the body itself. There are five panels for the body plus two fenders. The only thing else that you have to assemble is the wiring, and that in itself is pretty easy to do. It is a good afternoon project. This particular model we are showing is part number TP150. It is also available in other part numbers: the dimensions are going to be a little bit longer, with part numbers TP170 and TP205. more

Today we are going to show you part number RA-9 from Rackem. And what this part is is actually a trimmer string line holder. Basically, it mounts up to your trailer wall, like so. What you want to do is hang it on top here on the rack. And this has three predrilled holes to help mount it to the wall. And then we actually do not have any string here, but we have a spool of wire which you can use it for, maybe some electrical companies could use this in your vans or utility trailers. And this will feed your line and you pull out the wire as needed. This could hold one or two rolls, depending on the size of the role itself. To install the reel is pretty simple. You have to take off this wing nut and the line feeder here. Basically, it comes apart and then on the other side, you pull out the rod. To reinstall, just put it back together. And there you have it for RA-9 from Rackem, the trim line rack for enclosed trailers. more

We will go ahead and show you how it gets installed. It is pretty easy. To install is really simple. You just take the hook on here, put it over the top edge up here. And then, it has a single mount hole, so you just go ahead and screw this right to the side of the wall where ever you want. And that is set up for, you can use it with virtually anything, like some electrical cords, helmets or anything you can hang from it really. And there you have it for part number RA-8 from Rackem, the single hook rack for enclosed trailers. more

Today we are going to cover the installation of a breakaway kit. The function of a breakaway kit is in case the trailer unfortunately breaks away from the truck or the car. What will happen is the breakaway kit will pull a plunger, basically an electrical switch, that will send power via the battery to the brake axles so the trailer wont be free to run off into the ditch, and it will just slow down the trailer as soon as possible. That is the function of a breakaway switch. And now we will go ahead and install one. What we have here is basically a trailer frame, obviously not a whole trailer. But we are going to cover this as a generic install. No matter what brand you are using, they all install pretty much the same way. In this demonstration we will be using a part from Tow Ready, Part Number 20048. more

First thing we need to do is take the lift assist apparatus and set it on the drivers side railing. Put it as close to the tailgate as possible without interfering with the pins. As you can see we have placed the apparatus on the rail, where there is enough clearance where the pin wont interfere with it, now we want to center it on the railing and mark the holes where were going to drill for the mounting bolts. With the holes marked, we are going to remove the apparatus and drill the holes using a half inch drill bit. Now that we have the holes drilled, we are going to put the lift apparatus back on the rail and the half inch mounting bolts. Now we are going to tighten them down at this time. We have the lift unit installed on the rail here and now we want to put the bracket onto the tailgate. more

Today we are going to show you part number 1980A it is a Genuine Bearing Buddy trailer wheel bearing protector. The part number actually stands for 1.98 inches. It is shown here because it is the most popular bearing cover size for all 3,500 pound axles and most 2,000 pound axles and hubs that are out there. What these parts do is replace the regular dust cap that is on your hub. Basically, that gets taken off and everything stays the same on the inside. What you do is pack a little bit of grease in these, just a little bit in here. Then what happens is this gets installed and it does get hammered into place, use a wooden block between this and the hammer. And you drive it in flat. As you can see here there is a little Zerk fitting here. Once you have the bearing protector installed you fill it up with grease. And basically you just want to fill it up just enough until the spring starts moving out, because what has happened is you have air trapped in there and you want to give it a chance to work its way out. more

Today we are going to show you how to install part number E19148 from Erikson. What we have here is an E-track, this is the 5 foot long model. The actual E-track itself is 1/8 inch thick and the mounting holes are 1/4 inch in diameter. This assembly has a rating of 6,000 pounds. One thing you want to do when mounting the E-track is look for the wall studs on the trailer. In this case we are doing it on a wall but the same thing applies even if you are mounting it on the floor of a trailer. What you want to do is look for the studs in the wall. A dead giveaway, of course, are these screws that hold paneling in place. Across from here to here is the wall stud itself. It is basically a big channel with a couple flat spots on top to attach the plywood to. more

Today we are going to show you part number E59143 from Erikson manufacturing. What we have is a 2X8 strap that fits in to virtually any E-track system. This part is actually rated for 4,000 pounds maximum use. And we will show you how to use it, it is pretty easy stuff. Basically, the little latch here you pull back, put it into the E-track and let it go. It pops right into place and is ready to tie off any object. What is nice about this is you actually get a little more flexibility in mounting. If your strap happens to be a little bit short it gives you a few extra inches. If you have something close to the wall, you do not have the metal hitting on it you have the strap touching it instead. And there you have it for part number E59143 from Erikson Manufacturing, the 4,000 pound 8 inch strap. more

Today were going to talk about a problem that comes up in our e-mails sometimes, how to wire these lights up. A lot of people wonder how to the wires into this light fixture. Some people think there is a plug missing when actually there is not and well show you how to work that. As you can see here the back of the light is labeled for what wire goes to what you have green for the right turn signal and brown for the running lights, on the other side it would be yellow for the left turn. However since were using this one light we do not have to worry about that. Just take you wire and strip it back to anywhere from 3/8 to 1/2 an inch, it does not take much. Give it a good twist because that makes the wire stronger as it goes in. Now the brown wire to about a half inch or so, not that much. Then what well do is you simply just take it and it does not matter which hole you use as long as the green wire stays on this side of the bar. more

Today we are going to show you part number E79137 from Erikson manufacturing, what we have here is the their E-Track 16 foot long strap with ratchet. This easily and effectively ties down anything with its 1,200 pound capacity and can connect to any e-track. Now we will show you how it works, it is pretty simple. You pull this tab right here, it fits into the e-track and the other half does the same thing. This is the strap right here, obviously we will not need all of this. Now we put our object to tie down in the middle. Put your strap through the ratchet and back through again. Now pull out all of your excess, once you have it tight enough by hand, just pull back on the trigger and ratchet everything tight. Now your cargo is ready to go. To release it, you just pull this trigger back and pull all the way back which releases the tension and you can pull out the rest of your strap. There you have it for part number E79137 the 16 foot long ratcheting strap from Erikson manufacturing. more
