Today we are going to show you a lock from Master Lock, a trailer coupler lock part # 377DAT. We will show you how to operate the lock. You simply turn the key, pull back the shackle, install on the coupler and push the shackle back in. This lock is not limited to the coupler you see here, it will work with all couplers that have this phalange around it, and as long as you can insert the ball you will be fine. This is the Master Lock trailer coupler lock, part # 377DAT. more

It is a simple device really. The key locks and unlocks it. When you unlock it, the slide comes out where the ball would be in the coupler. When you want to lock back on to the coupler, you push it back as far as you can and turn the key and it will not go anywhere. We will show you how it works with a few different couplers. You unlock it like that, if you can latch the coupler and slide it together at the same time. That way it is locked here and it cannot go anywhere. The pin is already in, so take the key out and that is not going anywhere. Now we will show you how it works on an A frame coupler. It is pretty much the same thing; slide it on, latch it down, run it as close as possible like so and there you have it. No one can get a ball in there and take off with your trailer. Now we will show you how it attaches to a 2-5/16 coupler. As you can see this lock will fit a variety of different couplers. To cover that we started with a 1-7/8 coupler and moved our way up to a 2 inch then finished with a 2-5/16. All different couplers, and this worked on all of them just fine. more

We will show you the operation of this lock, it is a pretty simple device. Basically you take this coke machine key, pop it open, and as you can see there is a little rod in there that popped out. That is the rod that does all the work when you put it on your kingpin, it holds it in place so it does not come off. We are going to install it so we can show you how it works that way as well. Go ahead and unlock it first, it slides on, push the button back down, and it cannot come off. To remove it is a simple reverse procedure, and that covers it for part # 50222. more

This lock fits the 2-5/16 Bulldog coupler. It is a pretty simple device. You unlock it with the key, then this rod comes down so you can slide your coupler inside. When the coupler is inside, you push this rod back up, and your lock pushes back into place. We will show you how this works on an actual coupler, again we are using a Bulldog 2-5/16 coupler. Basically, like I said before you get your lock ready, unlock it, get your pin out of the way, and take the key out too if you want. You slide it on over the coupler, make sure it goes up as far as possible and push the lock back in place. Now you are set because this can not come off now. That is part # 28022, from Guardian Industries, the 2-5/16 coupler lock. more

We will start off by showing you the actual locking mechanism itself. It has three positions. One obviously has a locked position. The second is the unlocked position which as you can see it goes in and out relatively freely. The middle position here is the ratchet position so you can go to unlock it and just ratchet it in like it is supposed to and then lock it. And that is pretty much the operation of it. Now we will show you its use on an actual coupler. There you have it, it is in the locked position and it is not going anywhere. To unlock, you put the key back in, and reverse the process. We will cover some of the advantages of this coupler lock. Obviously one thing is it guards against trailer tow away theft. more

This is a simple to use lock. It is intended for trigger style coupler latches, like this. You see about a half inch span at the most. What this does is the key goes through there, like any other lock, and the pin comes apart. You slide through the latch, push the pin back in and there you are. It is simply installed and your coupler will not come off the ball. There you have it for part # 605DAT, the MasterLock solid brass coupler lock. more

This is an all stainless steel lock that is good for 5/8 inch spans and 1 inch and 2 inch spans across the latch of your coupler. We will show you how it works. You simply put the key in, give it a turn and it comes out like so. Now we will show you on a couple different latches how it works. We will do it first on our own trigger latch which is pretty common. It just goes through the lock hole on the latch, take the key out of the lock and slide it all the way up until you cannot move it. It stops at the first dent-in so it will not go anywhere. We will also show you another common coupler with a 2 inch span across the latch. It goes all the way through like so, push it on and you are set. There you have it for part # 2847DAT from MasterLock. more

Well show you the operation of the lock, its pretty easy. The key goes in and it works like a screwdriver. It just unscrews like so, then we can put it on our coupler. You put this through the lock hole on the coupler, which is typical of these latch style couplers. It just goes through then screw it together with the key, back it off a little bit with a turn. There you have it, locked into place and on the ball. Thats part # 63225 or #3008, the Tow Ready coupler lock. more

This lock surrounds your coupler keeping it safe from burglary. Well show you the operation of this lock, its pretty simple with a unique key. You just turn the key the button comes out and you push the key a little bit and the key comes out. You slide it over your coupler and the pin here comes up so when it goes into the coupler it cant come back out. Thats essentially how it works, now well show you that installed on a coupler. You see here that we have a common coupler trigger latch style. This lock works equally good on this one and other different styles. It simply slides on like so. After its on you push the button in and your set and cant pull this back off. Now well show you how this works with a common A-frame style coupler. You can have the latch down or up, again just slide the lock over your coupler and push the button in and it cant come off. That covers it for part # 63228 trailer lock. more

This is a trailer lock that fits common 1-7/8 couplers. Well show you the operation of this lock, its pretty simple. It comes with a standard key, which of course goes in the lock, what this does is instead of being a push button this one actually threads in. It bottoms out at about that far. That way when you put it back in your coupler and try to pull it out, it binds against that and cant be pulled off the coupler. To loosen it, you obviously reverse the procedure. Thats all there is to it. Well demonstrate the operation of this on a common variety 1-7/8 coupler. It simply slides over this edge here, use the key as a screwdriver, and run it in as far as you can. When it bottoms out back out the key by a quarter turn, the key comes out, and the lock cant come off. There you have it for part # 63229 trailer lock from Tow Ready. more

Well start off with Part # V75692, it simply takes a twist of the key and the top part comes out. Then this gets set around the coupler and slides down as far as you can put it on the coupler. You take the key out and it cant come apart and you cant pull this out of a coupler. Well try it on a coupler next to show you how it works. The same steps as before, take you key and take off the top bar. Take the key out, open the coupler and place the ball inside, so it cant go anywhere, take your top bar and push it on as far as it can go. Give it a good tug so it locks into place and there you have it. To take it apart you put it back in give it a twist and pull your bar out. Then you unlatch your coupler and its ready to hook up to your tow vehicle. Now well show you how this works with a popular trigger style coupler. more

We have here a 7/8 inch wide trailer coupler latch lock. This is a lock for the latch of your coupler and we are going to show you how it works, it is a pretty simple device. Basically you have the key to unlock it and then we will show you how to install it. It has a nice weather tight cover, you turn the key about 180 degrees and the pin comes apart and it is ready to install on your coupler. We have your regular variety latch style coupler here and we will show you how it works. The lock wraps around, you put the pin in and turn the key, put the cover back on and your trailer is secure. A few finer points about this lock is that the body itself has a nice rubber grip surrounding it which makes it easier to use and grab. You have armor on the outside which is covered in plastic so it will not scratch up your new trailer. It could be important on galvanized trailers because you do not want to beat it up and start rusting and cracking. What is also nice is the key itself. It is not a special key, if you take it to the locksmith you can get a copy made. There you have it for part # 2878DAT, from MasterLock, the 7/8 inch wide coupler latch lock. more
