Installation of the Westin Sure-Grip Running Boards
Today we are going to install part number 27-1495 from Westin automotive products. These can be used on many different style of running boards. These can be used on 2002 to 2006 Chevy Trailblazers EXT and the GMC Envoy. This application is pretty straight forward. What happens is these brackets you can see here, get bolted up to the bottom panel. Then they set up like so and get bolted into place. Now on the rear ones here they use bolt on. The other 3 will require a bolt thats already existing to be used. There is a hole you have to drill for a fastener on the other 3. One thing you will want to do is any holes that are underneath the frame you might want to run a bolt through them to clean them out. We went ahead and first off sprayed them with some WD40 and ran the bolts in just to clean them out.
Then we will just move on down the line to the other 3. It is kind of hard to see but right here is a hole that we have to drill out for our fastener. This does require the use of a right angle drill. At this point we still have our brackets loose on there. So what we are going to do is set our tube step up on the brackets and then we will visualize it. Then you need to raise or lower it or left or right to match the body contour. Once the bracket is set the way you want it. Then go ahead and take off your running board then we will make our final connections on the back side. Once the brackets are set the way we want them we will go ahead and snug up the bolts that are existing. Then we will turn around and back up and go through it all again drilling out our holes.
Now we are going to start drilling out our holes. We got our hardware installed so we will go back and tighten up the bolts. Next up we are going to show you how to install part number 27-6145 running board attachment. We have our board laying on the brackets and now it is just the simple process of lining up the bolts to meet the holes. Continue doing that all the way down the board. Now we have our board laying there and we can scoot it left or right to as we see fit. At this point we have a board the way we want it. So lets go ahead and install our hardware. The same thing applies for the rest of their brackets on the way down. There you have it for the install of the running board part number 27-6145 the black aluminum board. This install also applies to part number 27-6540 the chrome aluminum running boards. Part number 27-0025 step board assembly with the light kit. That concludes our install of part number 27-1495 our running board installation kit.
