Installation of a Thule Professional Locking Ladder Holder
What this device does is lock your ladder into place on the Thule Professional Ladder Rack so it will not go anywhere. Well assemble one of these clamps to show you how it works. The first thing we need to do is take off our end cap and install two square nuts into the slot were going to use. The next thing we need to do is install the rubber pad onto the bracket. Next we loosely install the bracket onto the square nuts we installed earlier, it gets a special alan bolt and a washer. We need to leave it loose so we can move it back and forth. Next we need a measurement of the ladder where the attachment point will be. In this case were looking at 20 1/2 inches. Next were going to install the rubber pad for the approximately the same width as the ladder away from the bracket on the rail. Going back to the brackets, we need to install some pads on the brackets here.
Next we install our bottom bracket and install it here. It simply just goes in and goes straight up. Next we take our clamp here and just rotate it to the side and hold it in place. Now we can take our ladder and put it into place. With the ladder installed, now we can finish with our bracket on top. Well install our top bracket here, the part we installed the foam on earlier, well line it up with the closest existing hole and make note of that. We loosen our clamp here and install our bolt to tighten these two together. Now we can re-install our clamp over our ladder. Your next step is to double check the pad on the other side and make sure it has full contact with the ladder. In this case it looks like were clear on both sides. Once everything is aligned the way you want it, well remove our ladder and tighten down the brackets. Now well re-assemble everything. Now we can focus on our knob here. Now we can install our lock core, basically you take your square-head key put it in the core and slide it into the knob. Make sure it goes all the way in and pull the key out. Then you use your regular key to lock it into place. When you lock the knob it will just sit there and spin, when you unlock it will thread on and off of the bolt. With that, the install is complete of that one bracket, this kit does come with one for each rail.
