Installation of a Thule Professional Ladder Lift
To begin with, we need to prepare our Thule Professional Ladder Rack, and that means taking off the end caps. At this point it would probably be a good idea to remove all the load stops on the rack. Next we need to install two square nuts at the top of each rail. We can re-install the end caps now. Next we install the bar mount, it goes on top here and theres two holes at either end. These get screwed into the square nuts we put in earlier. Now we can snug them down and well do the same thing for the rear. Now we can get the arms ready to be installed on the rails. That entails putting square nuts here and one rubber pad in the middle. Well repeat for the back arm too. We need to install the brackets on the end of the arms. They simply mount here to those square nuts. Now we can install our knob to the bracket and just leave it loose.
Now we need to assemble the ladder bracket assemblies and get them ready to install. What happens is this rubber pad gets mounted here, and on the other half of the bracket some rubber pads get mounted on here which we need to repeat for the other half. Now we can add the ladder brackets to the arms. Now do the same thing for the other arm. Once you have the arms side by side, you need to put the other bracket on the opposite side. Just get it started for now, next you need to get the measurement of the ladder youre using and position the brackets accordingly. The measurement for us was 17 inches. So you measure from the outside of this edge to the outside of this edge. That should match up to our ladder. At this point you can go ahead and snug it down. On the end arms we can install our knobs. Now were going to mount one of the arms to the arm mount starting with the rear. Once we have the arms installed we can lower them to the side. next we need to install our handle tube. Theres one for the top and one for the bottom. When you install the handle tube make sure you have equal distance on both sides. Once you have the bars installed the way you want them, we can install the handle. Now is the time to get your ladder out and find the center of it with the rack and install it onto the locks. At this point we can now assemble the locks themselves. Basically this bracket gets put into the slot back here and is put in at an angle then straightens out.
Now pull it forward until it meets the bottom of the ladder. At this point take your other L-bracket, slide it on to the first one, and note the closest hole it uses to hold the ladder into place. So lets go ahead and lower it and it looks like it uses this hole here. Now that we have our bracket assembled, well re-install the bracket to the locking assembly. Temporarily secure it in place, and well do the same for the other side. At this point we can install the locking knobs cores. Now we can do a test run. We can install the two final locks at the hinge mechanism and that covers it for your install of part # TH329 the Ladder Lift, part of the Thule Professional series.
