Helpful hints - how to use a scotch lock for wiring

Basically how these operate is that one wire will go inside one channel here, while the other goes through the other channel. What happens is that this little piece of metal here actually pierces both wires and makes a connection that way. That's basically how it works and you can see the grooves inside where the wires fit. Now we'll show you the proper way of using these. Let's say that this is the wire you want to tap off of, what you can do is simply snap this over the wire. You can use either groove, it doesn't matter wherever you prefer in the working conditions you're in. Then slide in the wire you want to extend off off it in the next groove. I like to leave a little bit on the side to have something to grip on. Next you take your pliers and give it a gentle squeeze in the middle with slow even pressure. Then you put the lid over it like so and that seals the joint.

It's not weather tight by any means, but you can use either electric tape or liquid electric tape to accomplish that. Scotch locks do take up a little bit of room but you don't have to strip the wires or sod or anything like that. So for a little more convenience you sacrifice space. Another note is you can't connect these together by the lid alone. You have to have the pair of pliers to do that. There you have for part # 564.
