Review of the Valley Journey HD 2-8 Brake Electric Brake Controller

Today we are going to show you part number V52740 the Valley Journey HD 2-8 Electric Brake Controller. This here is designed for 1 to 4 brake axles. It also has an easy to read digital display. It has a simple to use thumb wheel that controls output and sync. Basically output is how much power needs to be given to the trailer. Sync is how fast or slow the brakes come on. It also has a built in diagnostics system to check for shorts in the wires. This brake controller is also a solid state unit. Which means no moving parts so you can mount it anyway you want. Upside down, right side up or even sideways it does not matter. One of the other features is the easy to use disconnect socket. We will go ahead and show you how it works.

When you hit your brakes it will show on a scale of 1 to 10 how much power you are using exactly. 9.9 is the maximum and you can ramp it all the way down to nothing. The journey also has a manual override just in case you need to hit the brakes themselves. You slide this manual override over and it engages the brakes. On the other side here you have the thumb wheel for the ramp. What this does is apply or get rid of a time delay on how soon the brakes come on. It also does it on a scale of 1 to 10. So we can start at 9 and make our way all the way back to 0. Now with the ramp at 0 watch how slow the brakes climb to 10. Now we will set it for as fast as it can go and watch how fast it makes it to 10.

You get the brake controller and complete instructions on how to install it. It also comes with this mounting bracket and hardware to mount the controller to the dashboard. On the back here you can tell it has a quick disconnect socket. It does have to be purchased separate due to the different adapters for the different vehicles and their respective tow packages. We are going to go ahead and show you. We are going to show you one for Chevy and show you how it snaps right on here. This is the adapter cable right here. This end will plug into the Journey brake controller like so. The other half here will plug into the tow package on the trailer. Again in this case it is a Chevy adapter. There you have it for part number V52740 the Valley Journey HD 2-8 Electric Brake Controller time delay.
