Demonstration of the Thule Bed Rider Truck Bed Bike Rack
If you're taking your bike along for the ride than this is the bike rack for you and this is one will keep it secure. Corrosion resistant aluminum construction makes this expandable bike rack lightweight and easy to use. This bike rack comes equipped to hold two bikes, however a third bracket can be added by ordering part # BR1. This bike rack works great with all bed liners and bed sizes because of its telescoping nature. As you can see by the telescoping design, it will expand pretty easily. Again we're using a smaller truck here but it can easily go up to a full size pickup. To do that, we push this button down and you can see we have a fair amount of adjustment on the width of the truck. Also about the brackets there's infinite adjustment on those too, these brackets clamp on to the telescoping rod itself. These two set screws hold everything in place.
Also there are security features involved with the bolts themselves. It's somewhat hard to see, but these are torque bolts and they have a little pin on the inside that keeps someone from using a conventional torques threading and possibly stealing the bike. This kit comes with a special tool to loosen that up or tighten as needed. This end here is also threaded for it to tighten up against the bed rail. On the opposite side here you have the locking device that keeps it from spinning once you have it installed. This has its own key lock and we'll show how it works. It basically flips up and the whole bicycle rack revolves around this pin here and of course on the other side it forces it in or out. You can see this whole rack consists of aluminum material and high impact plastic. Now we'll show you how this gets installed on the vehicle. To begin our install, we have to get it as close to the truck bed rail as possible. So we'll just slide it up there and it might take a few attempts to get it to the right width. Once you have to where it sits on its own like this, you unlock this latch here, pull up on this and this bracket locks it in place and keeps it from twisting. Now we can twist the rack to tighten it in the bed rails. As you can see the threads are coming out and pushing against the wall of the truck. Once you have it tight enough you can re-latch it. Once we have our bike rack installed, we can install a bike and show you how that works. First you do have to take the front wheel off, and with your bracket it works just like your bicycle wheel, you want to unthread it a little bit to give you some working room. Make sure it moves back and forth, now we'll put these onto our axle replacement. Once you have your forks engaged, we tighten it up just a hair. Just like your bicycle, put your lever down and tighten it up. Now your bike is safe and secure and will definitely not go anywhere down the road. You can also see this bike has a caliper up front for disk brakes. There you have it for part # TH822, the Thule Bed Rider.
