SportRack Escape 3 Bike Rack Demonstration
Before we can begin, one other thing we should consider is what type of hitch we'll be using. In our case it's a two inch receiver hitch. However, this bicycle rack is adaptable down to the 1 1/4 inch receiver hitch. I'll show you how to do that here. First you unscrew the bolt and basically the plastic covers pop off. Do that to the other half and you have a 1 1/4 inch end ready to go. The next detail we're going to show you is the tilt mechanism, all you need to do is hold the hitch pin out and let it fall down in your hands. It will then be out of the way so you can get in the back of your truck, suv or what not. The next thing we'll talk about here is the folding ability of the rack. As you've seen we had to unfold it to put it together we can also fold it for storage purposes. As a final note, one thing you may want to consider is the outward spacing of the bars. You may want to take this measurement and compare it to the bikes you have. Overall it looks like 14 1/2 inches in width. Once our bike rack is assembled, we'll install a bicycle and show you how it mounts. We'll start off with a standard frame bike then move on to an alternative frame bike. As you can see this bicycle rack can accommodate an alternative frame bike. We'll cover some of the feature of this bicycle rack by talking about the cradles first. One nice thing about the cradles is it has a built in anti-sway device as you can see the strap goes around the bottom tube here and keeps it in place so it can't move around. Also a nice part about the cradles is the adjustability built in. It can twist left to right and also front to rear. Also with the cradles ability to twist on the rack itself, you can see the extreme angle we can mount this bicycle on. It's still in the cradle, strapped down, and won't go anywhere. Also this rack comes with an extra strap here. This is used as an extra measure to secure the bikes to the rack. We'll show you how to install the strap. One extra back up measure to keep the bikes in place. That will cover it for the sport rack bicycle rack, this is the escape model, part # A30403.
