Review of the Master Lock Key Safe Trailer Hitch Lock

Today we have part number 1467DAT, the Key Safe and Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock by Master Lock. This unique lock provides security for your bike rack, cargo carrier and/or ballmount. It also is a key safe for your valuables and even spare keys. There is a combination lock hitch safe that sits next to your receiver tube that locks into place with a locking pin. This lock can fit both 1-1/4 and 2 inch receivers with this removable sleeve. It can also be used as a lock without the safe. The key safe itself has a rubber cover to protect it from bad weather conditions. There is also a 4 dial combination lock that can be set at whatever combo you want. This whole assembly comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Now we will go ahead and show you how it works. It is actually pretty simple. What you do is pull off the rubber cap and get your key and give it a quarter turn, then it comes right apart. The sleeve also comes off to work with a 1/2 inch receiver hitch. This is how it works on a 2 inch ballmount. It goes in like a regular hitch pin then you can slide your lock on and give it a quarter turn. Your ballmount is now secured to your hitch.

Next we will show you how the key safe works. It is pretty simple. You have a little weather tight cover that pops off. Then you have the four dial lock and you squeeze the ends and you can pop it off like so, after you have set the combination of course. Now you have a nice little opening to your keys in or what not. Go ahead and put your 4 dial top back on and spin the dial. There you go, all your valuables are safe and ready when you come back to get them. Last but not least, if you wan to use a plain old hitch pin in your 1-1/4 receiver, it also comes with this extra pin and this lock will work on there. It works with an 1-1/4 draw bar by just sliding it through the hole and applying the lock on the other side.
