Review of a Diversitech Aluminum Adjustable Ball Mount
This is a ball mount that uses a 2 inch and 2 5/16 ball. As you can see this is an adjustable ball mount which means that this platform here can travel up and down as necessary. Theres two locks on here that use coke machine keys, theres one up top right here. This lock controls the pin that locks it into the hitch. This lock here facilitates the adjustments up and down the shank. Well show you how the locks work starting with the hitch pin. Basically you take the key and twist it and you can see how the pin retracts when you want to slide it into the hitch. When you have it in the right spot, take the key back and it forces the pin back out. This does so on both sides. With the same key you can go down here, it pretty much works the same way, it just allows it to adjust in different increments.
We will install it in our two inch receiver hitch here, and show you how the pin works. You get it lined up and take your key, twist it, you see it comes through the hole and thats all it needs. In fact if it goes off to one side it will sit flush with or a little bit below it. That wont hurt a thing because anything that sticks past the hitch is not being used anyway. So you can tow with that being perfectly flush. Well show you the adjustments of the ball mount again as well. Like before, take your key and unlock it. Take it off and you can see you have seven indentions you can use the change the height of the ball mount. While talking about the ball mount itself you can see it has a 2 inch ball on one side and a 2 5/16 inch ball on the other. As you can see on the inside it uses the same pin and key combination, you turn it and it locks into place. The total capacity for this hitch is 1500 pounds tongue weight, and 10000 pounds gross trailer weight. Also as one final note, as a storage option you can take this part here and reverse it on the other side so it takes up less space in your storage spot. Theres an indent on the back side of it too, so you can lock it in position and it takes up less space in your tool box. Also Id like to point out the structure of this ball mount is aluminum.
