Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Chevy Silverado - Video

Signature Series 18K Fifth Wheel with Slider

Today we are going to be installing the Signature Series Fifth Wheel part number 30061. On a 2007 new body style Chevy Silverado pickup 2500. The first thing we need to do is lower the spare tire to gain access to the under body. Next we will need to remove the heat shield or else it will be in the way during our installation. After we remove the heat shield we want to go ahead and put the rear cross member into place. As you can clearly see that we have already put the cross member in. It will be easier if you loosen or remove the bed bolts. There are 4 middle ones that if you take them out or loosen they will allow you extra room when putting the cross member back into position. Then go ahead and install the front and rear channel. You can see we have both cross members into position now. The next step will be to mount the side brackets on the side of the frame.... more

Demonstration of Draw-Tite Pro Series 15K Fifth Wheel Hitch - Video

Draw-Tite Pro Series 5th Wheel 30056

This is our economy offering, but it doesn't really act like one. It has a lot of features and benefits like our signature hitch, for example it feature a 4 way pivoting head. It pivots front to back or side to side. This is great when you're going over uneven road surfaces or hitching on uneven surfaces. The side to side pivot eases in hitching and unhitching operation. It has a full 5 degree side to side pivot and again it's great for hitching on uneven ground. The round slide bar jaw mechanism is designed for automatic hitching, so when the king pin comes in the jaw handle is activated and it will slam shut. Encompassing the king pin and securing your fifth wheel king pin in there. The pro series 15K features 13 to 17 inches of vertical height adjustment.... more

Draw-Tite Signature Series Fifth Wheel Installation - Video

Signature Series Fifth Wheel 40847

We begin the installation of our fifth wheel trailer hitch by lowering the spare tire on our 2008 Ford 250 Super Duty. Next, we want to loosen the bed bolts to make it easier to install the rails for our fifth wheel hitch. Now we can slide the first rail over the frame and under the truck bed. With first rail in place towards the rear of the truck, we can then slide the second rail into place. Once we have the rails in place across the truck, we insert the bolts to level out the mounting brackets. After the rails are in place and bolts tightened, we retighten the bed bolts to make sure there will be no shifting. This ensures that all of the holes we are going to drill will align properly. Now we mark the holes where we need to drill through the side of the frame at the front and rear of the frame brackets. Before drilling your holes, check the inside of the frame rail on each side of the truck to make sure it is clear of any wiring or lines that run from the front to the back of the truck.... more

Reese 18K Select Plus Demonstration

If you have upgraded your fifth wheel trailer, now you will need to upgrade the fifth wheel hitch to handle the additional load. The 18K Select Plus allows you to tow some of the largest fifth wheels, but it also includes a laundry list of safety and convenience features. Some of the convenience features include easy integration with the round tube slider, 14-18 inches of height adjustment, torsion springs that always keep the head in the hitch up position for easy hitching, removable hitch head so it is easier to get the fifth wheel out of your truck, and a sight in the hitch head that helps with alignment while hitching. Some of the included safety features are a pull pin that prevents the slider from moving while in the towing position and a flag indicator that will not allow you to lock out the handle if the king pin is not in the proper towing position.

18K Select Plus Fifth Wheel with slider installation - 2006 Chevy 2500HD

The 18K Select Plus with round tube slider is heavy duty enough to handle some of the biggest fifth wheel trailers, while also offering a host of safety and convenience features. The Select Plus offers easy hookup to the king pin, and features a safety feature that does not allow the fifth wheel to be locked out until the kingpin is positioned correctly. The head of this fifth wheel can be unpinned from the base so you can easily remove the hitch from the bed of your truck, because it can be broken down into two pieces, you only need to lift half as much weight as the typical fifth wheel to remove it from the truck bed. The round slider rails operate smoothly and allow for easy maneuvering around a camp site of tight space.

Draw-Tite 18K Signature Series Fifth Wheel Demonstration

The Draw-Tite Signature Series line of Fifth Wheel trailer hitches has been design from the ground up to give the user the highest level of strength, quality, and ease of use available. At etrailer.com we are constantly providing in depth product training for all of our staff, and this week Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, and Reese Towing came to visit as guest professors. We got samples of all the products out of the warehouse and everyone was able to tear them down, take a look inside, and build them back up. We covered every aspect of the products, and thought we would share just some brief overviews of some of them. This video covers the Signature Series 18K fifth wheel hitch. Sorry we won't be able to put the entire week worth of product training classes online, but if you have more in depth questions we are always here to help.
