Today we're going to show you the operation of this unique device. Basically you have a monitor that you see here. There's a camera that gets installed on the license plate on the back of the vehicle. We'll go through the controls and show you how it works. Basically you want to have the unit turned on first through this button right here. You can see you have it on with the red light. To activate the camera when your backing up you simply put it in reverse. Now it has to adjust the contrast as it is a bright day. As you can see we have a couple of trailers behind us. Also what's nice about these controls is the other buttons will go through say for instance you can't mount the monitor in the situation that we have here. If you need to mount it upside down or to the left or right or a vertical fashion, you can rotate the picture as you need it with this button here. ... more

We'll begin our install by actually mounting the camera on the lower bolts of the license plate. This does reside on top of the license plate. There is one other note, this comes with spacers that allow you to tilt this up or down depending on your vehicle. Next you need to route this wire up along the edge here, and up to the hinge point and back down to the tail light. What we're going to do first is wrap this wire around the bottom. We measured and there's plenty of room between the hatch and the tailgate. What we're going to do is slice a little hole here to run the wire through so it's not sticking between the grommet. Now we'll push this wire into the groove and work our way up towards the hinge. This will come off first which we've loosened up. Now we'll take off this unit and we trace our wire back down through here.... more

If I have done it once, I have done it a thousand times. You are trying to hook your trailer to your ballmount, and having a bit of trouble getting them to line up. So you back up, jump out of the truck, check the alignment, jump back in the truck, try to adjust, jump out of the truck, check the alignment, you get the idea. This is not exactly your idea of enjoyable exercise. Now there is an answer. The swift hitch camera mounts to the rear of the vehicle with a magnet and you can see your ballmount on a handheld, wireless, color monitor. This makes it extremely easy to align the ballmount and trailer coupler. There are probably hundreds of other creative uses for the camera, but I will leave that up to you to figure out. Also, did I mention that it has an automatic, night vision mode so that you can hitch your trailer even if it is pitch dark out.
