Installation of a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2007 Toyota Tundra

Today we are going to install on a 2007 Toyota Tundra and we will be installing the brake controller part number 39519 the Tekonsha Prodigy. We will also be using part number 3040-p from Tekonsha which lets you plug into the factory tow package in the vehicle. We begin our install by finding a spot to mount our bracket onto. Just go ahead and put it up there and see if you like it as a nice place to put a brake controller. It should give you a pretty good idea of how it fits. Makes sure you can access the thumb wheel on top. Seeing the LED screen is equally important. Now that you know it is in the correct position you can go ahead and mark the holes before you drill them. Now we will go ahead and drill out our holes after we have marked them.

Here is the plug that we plug underneath the dash. This is a loop that needs to be grounded on the vehicle. Where this plugs in most of the time there is a bracket that comes down for us to use as a ground. We will go ahead and screw that in first then we will install our plug by plugging it in the back of the brake controller. Then we need to route our wire across and up to where our brake controller will be installed. Once that is done we can go ahead and install our screws. Now we have it hooked up and the LED display is lit up showing it has power. The first dot shows it is connected and the second dot is the boost button. For example you have B1, B2 and B3. When you have no boost on that dot will vanish. Now after doing a manual lever we see it says NC for No Connection. So we will go ahead and hook up our trailer too it and we should get some numbers to pop up. Now that we have our trailer hooked up it shows the letter C which means it is connected. Now we do our manual override and we have numbers all the way so that means our connection is good and it is sending out power. Alright that covers the install of part number 39519 from Tekonsha. We also used part number 3040-p also from Tekonsha on our 2007 Toyota Tundra.
