Electric Brake Controller Installation Video Transcript
The first step is to figure out where we are going to mount the brake controller. Typically it is on the right hand side, on the driver side, right about here.
We will go ahead and put it up there, mark it, and drill it out to mount it.
And next we will mount the brake controller into the bracket and then locate where we are going to run our wires underneath.
Now we're going to open the junction box and insert the cord and we will run that to the junction on the brake controller.
This typically goes on the second socket from the left, right here. Go ahead and zip tie up to the framing up here, and probably to this cable right here. Then, the last step that we will do here is put the cover back on the junction block.
After installing the brake controller and applying power you will see that the CL comes on, that stands for calibration. What you want to do in this step is go ahead and hit the vehicle brake, release it, and then hold this button down until the CL disappears. And that's that, it's calibrated.
After that you set the amount of power you need for your trailer.
Now, we will do a test to make sure we have current coming out the back of the seven pole connector. If you just have a simple tester, like what we will use here, a simple trick for the ground is to use the exhaust tube itself, it is always bolted to the engine, which is always grounded, we will go ahead and have somebody hold the brake down and let's try it. It sound like we have current.
