Assembly of the Bike Adapter for Rola Enclosed Cargo Carriers
This is a bike adapter for your enclosed cargo carrier. What this assembly does is go ahead and gets bolted on top of the tray of your cargo carrier where you can mount your bikes onto. To begin the assembly process we have to install these brackets here that get mounted into the tray itself. Basically you line it up with the existing holes that are already there and they actually go from the widest point out. You want the bars as wide as possible, and what happens next is we simply insert these screws in the bottom up and these knobs basically clamp into place. Now we are ganna do the other side here. Okay, the next part we will do is we will go ahead and assemble the rails themselves, as you can see there are two pieces, you hook together and they get bolted into these slots right here. The slots are for adjustability for the final assembly so you have room to work with. We will go ahead and bolt these together, loosely again so we can adjust them as we need them, and then we will also add the ends to the rails.
We will go ahead and start with the ends first. The covers just simply slide on, like so. Alright, we will go ahead and put our rails together, again we will just drop the screw in, and put our nut and washer on the back. Ok, we just want to leave those loose. Now we will install the part that actually holds the bike in place. And that will actually be sandwiched between the upright and the rail. We will just slide it in between the two. We have to start with the third hole here. The same bolt and nut washer assembly we will go ahead and fasten it together. And these we can go ahead and tighten down. Now we go ahead and put on the rubber lining for the jaws here so they will not scratch up the bike or anything. They simply press fit into place. Alright, we will go ahead and start clamping the rails down to the uprights here, it goes on through, this plate goes on the bottom side. One side gets a nut and a washer, extend it up as far as you can go. And then the other side gets this nut and the handle. The nut just simply drops into the handle, then you go ahead and thread it into place. Then we will do something similar on the other side. It is basically the same procedure as before except the U-bolt goes the opposite way this time. Then you drop the nut in the handle. That basically tightens everything into place and we will repeat on the other side here. Now we can go ahead and tighten down our center section here, and then snug up everything else and make any connections if need be. We went ahead and installed the other rails so you can see what the completed product looks like installed on the carrier, and that pretty much handles the assembly of it. Now we will go ahead and show you how a bike gets installed and secure. Once you get your bike into position, make sure this clamp is at a 90 degree angle with the bike frame. Then you simply tighten it down. The tie away straps just wrap around the rail and the wheel. There you have it, with the bike installed on the rack you can see it uses the bottom tube to hold the bike into place and that will carry a variety of different bikes. This is part # 59114 the Rola two place bike carrier
