Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera Installation - 2010 Honda Element

Today on our 2010 Honda Element, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System. Part number HM50002. Here's what it looks like once it's installed. As you can see we're in trailer mode now so it's kind of a V shape, it's going to go right to the ball, that you can see right there at the bottom. You can switch it to everyday mode, simply push it in. That gives you a nice square box and the closer you get to something it'll start to make a little more noise so when you get to the yellow it kind of a caution zone, when you get to red that's a danger zone. You can up to an inch and a half away when that red starts to go off. If you want to back up to a trailer you would simply switch it to hitch mode and you start to back up. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Honda Element

Today on this 2006 Honda Element, we're going to install part number 119197KIT. First, to install this wiring harness, we need to get access to the wiring. We're going to open up the back hatch and get access to the tail lights. There will be two screws we have to remove on each side for the tail lights. We'll go ahead and remove both tail lights for now. Once we have the bolts loosened, we can carefully pry the tail light away from the vehicle until it unpops. We'll go ahead and lean it over on their side so it will sit in place there. Next we'll go ahead and install a ground screw for our tester. We'll take a simple sheet metal screw, we'll run it into the sheet metal behind the tail light, and we'll use that for our ground. more

Today on our 2008 Honda Element we're going to be installing the CURT Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 13574. Now here's what our hitch looks like installed on our vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of the bumper is approximately 3". From the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground is approximately 13". Now let's go ahead and install our hitch. Now we'll begin our installation here by pointing out our mounting locations underneath the vehicle. There will be a total of five mounting locations. more

Today on our 2008 Honda Element we're going to be installing the Tow Ready T1 vehicle wiring harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number 118465. Now this particular wiring kit is a two part kit. This right here is the half that goes up underneath the driver side dash. It plugs into a 10-pin connector, has a couple fuse holders in it that have little 5-amp fuses in it. Now we'll be installing this first. Now normally there would be a panel right here that you would remove, but on this car it's already removed for some reason so we will not have to take that off. Now the other half of the plug that we're looking for is actually up in here. more

Today in our 2005 Honda Element. We'll be installing the draw-tite hitch, part number 75659. Here's what our hitch looks like installed on a vehicle. Now, we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch such as a ball mount, bicycle rack or cargo carrier. From the center the hitch and hole to the edge of the bumper is approximately three inches and from the top of the opening on the hitch to the ground is approximately thirteen and a half inches. Now let's go ahead and install our hitch. more

Right, today on this 2003 Honda Element were going install part number HM55999. This is the Hopkins universal taillight wiring kit for towed vehicles. The first thing we need to do is go ahead and get access to a taillight through removing them, so go ahead and open up the back hatches and tailgate. Well start on the passenger side. Then we will remove two screws to remove the taillights, then pull straight back with steady pull, un-pop this fastener in the back. Now, were going to rotate our light; I wont disconnect it, but well just lay it gently off to the side. Well go over to the driver side and repeat the same process.Next, well go ahead and lay out our wire harness. more

RoadMaster 4-Wire Connector Installation - 2003 Honda Element

Today on this 2003 Honda Element, we're going to install part number RM-910030-1. This is a Road Master 4-wire connector. The first thing we need to do is go ahead and remove the original connector that's on our vehicle. In this case, it's a 4-pole flat, so we'll simply just cut off the end. Then we'll go ahead and take apart the 4-wire connector. We'll take out 1 screw in the top, and then push the insides out the front. more

Today on this 2003 Honda Element we're going to install part number Bx2232 from Blue Ox. Go ahead and get underneath the hood and remove some plastic fasteners that hold the top of the bumper cover. Now we'll remove all the plastic fasteners that we can see plus the ones for the panel in the center. They'll be one last plastic grid that we'll have to remove that's underneath the panel. Now we'll go to the bottom of the vehicle at the bottom edge of the bumper cover. There'll be two metric bolts in the bottom, two on each side. You don't have to remove these, but it did make the whole assembly a little bit easier to work with and made it more flexible. Now we'll go to each fender well. more

Today on this 2007 Honda Element we are going to install part number 118465 from Tow Ready. This is a T-One wiring harness and what this harness basically does is fill in the missing parts of the factory tow package. First thing we are going to do is find the port underneath the dash where part of the harness plugs into. It is a two piece kit. One piece gos in the front of the vehicle with the modulite box itself and the other half plugs into the back of the vehicle. more

Okay we are going to do an install on a Honda element using part number 24720. We will take out all the spare tire and the plastic so we can actually do the install. Okay we will go ahead and clean out the trunk area and then get down to the spare tire and take that apart. What well do next is tighten this down just enough to snug it to hold it in place, and then well see where to drill or holes out using the hitch as a template. more
