Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Honda Odyssey - Curt- Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Honda Odyssey - Curt

Today on our 2016 Honda Odyssey, we'll be taking a look at and installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III, which is a 2-inch receiver, part number C13068. Now, this is what the hitch looks like when it's installed on your vehicle. As you can see here, we've got a 2-inch by 2-inch receiver tube opening with a reinforcement collar around it. We've got a 5/8-inch hitch pinhole right here. We've got the steel plate that's welded to the bottom side with the holes for your safety chains. As you can see here on this cross frame, it's got a black powder coat finish that helps give it superior rust and corrosion protection. There's no drilling or welding required in order to install this hitch. It uses 4 existing weld nuts and 1 carriage bolt to fish wire it into place. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Honda Odyssey - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2016 Honda Odyssey we'll be taking a look at and installing the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver, which is a class two hitch with a 1-1/4" opening, part number 36417. Something that's particularly nice about this hitch is the ease of the install, because you simply have two weld nuts on either side for you to put the bolts up into, and the fact that it's an 1-1/4". If you already have those 1-1/4" accessories, then this hitch will work really well for you. Here we've also got the 1/2" hitch pinhole. Then down here, if you're doing light duty towing you've got the loops for your safety chains. Then we've also got a collar here around the receiver tube for a little extra reinforcement. more

We've left our panel off, you can trim it, however, you will be removing the majority of the panel. So, whatever look you can go for there, you can certainly go for it. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Honda Crosstour - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2012 Honda Crosstour we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch, Class I, part number 24852. Here's what it looks like once it's installed. You can see it's got a nice black powder coated finish. It's going to contour to the body. You want to keep in mind that this does stick out a little bit, and that's because on this Crosstour that spare tire drops straight down, so it's got to be out enough for the spare tire to clear it, and be able to access our spare tire. It's going to have 200 pounds of tongue weight, which is going to be our downward force, and 2,000 pounds of trailer weight, which is going to be the amount it can pull. You want to check with your owner's manual, or your manufacturer, to make sure your vehicle is actually able to tow that amount of weight. It's going to be a bolt on design, no drilling required. more

Best 2016 Subaru Crosstrek Hitch Options- Video

Best 2016 Subaru Crosstrek Hitch Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. Our hitch on the top is going to be the CURT class three receiver hitch, part number C13135. The second one down is going to be the CURT class one trailer hitch, part number C11286, followed by the Draw-Tite class one sport frame receiver hitch, part number 24886. Now you can see our biggest difference is going to be that this one is a class three with a 2" receiver, while these are both class one with 1-1/4". Now the 2" receiver is going to be give you a lot more options for cargo carriers, bike racks, and ball mounts. Another difference you're going to notice is on the CURT class one it's got a flat-style safety chain loop, where the class three has the ring-style with a larger diameter, as well as the Draw-Tite that's got the ring-style for larger chain hooks. Now with the ring-style it's going to give you a little bit more room to put a larger hook into and make it a little easier, where sometimes with these flat-style ones it's not going to be able to grip around the outside here because we have a lot larger diameter. more

Now, this is what the hitch looks like when it's installed on our vehicle, so you can see you've got a reinforcement collar here around the 1 1/4 by 1 1/4-inch receiver tube. It's a bolt-on, so there's no drilling or welding required. If you'd like to remount the tow hook that may have been originally equipped on the vehicle, you do have drill the tow hook, but not for the hitch. This hitch has a 300 pound max tongue weight rating and a 3500 max gross trailer weight rating. Obviously you will want to consult the owner's manual of your CX5 to figure out which number is lower. If it is rated for a lower amount than what the hitch is rated for, obviously you will want to go by that number. You don't want to exceed the limitations of your vehicle. Best 2013 Ford Fusion Hitch Options

Today we'll be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2013 Ford Fusion. Those are going to come from CURT, part number C12091; and from Draw-Tite, part number 24897; both with 1-1/4" openings. They work out great for light-duty towing, bike racks, and other hitch-mounted accessories. Here on the CURT you can see around the 1-1/4" opening it's got a reinforcement collar, whereas down here on the Draw-Tite it's got this reinforcement plate that's up top. Again, here on the Draw-Tite you can see that with the frame of it you can see that the tube receiver comes straight out from the frame here, whereas up here on the CURT you've got the frame across up here, but then the receiver tube is actually mounted to the bottom of it, which allows this one to tuck up a little bit better behind your fascia. Both the CURT and the Draw-Tite have the steel rings in order for you to hook your safety chains in when doing light-duty towing. The CURT has a 350 pound tongue weight rating and a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight rating, whereas the Draw-Tite has a 200 pound tongue weight rating and a 2,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. You'll also want to check your Ford Fusion owner's manual to see what the trailer weight rating is that your car's able to pull, and go with whichever number is lowest. When using bike racks and cargo carriers with this CURT hitch, they recommend using a support strap, which you can get on our website, part number 18050; whereas with the Draw-Tite, there's no strap needed. more
