Titan Hydraulic Trailer Brake Installation- Video

All right, today on this old trailer, we're going to install the hydraulic brake assembly, part number T2351100. Now, we're going to start off our install to hub our _ inaudible 0:00:12 removed so we can show how to remove the vacuum plate. First off, we'll go ahead and disconnect the hydraulic line behind it. We're going to use a wrench to undo the fitting and remove the line. We're going to take the line and point it upward to help keep the fluid in the line. Next, we'll go ahead and unbolt the old vacuum plate.more

TruRyde Electric Brake Assembly Installation- Video

Today were going to install part number TRBK10E01 from TruRyde. This is their Electric Trailer Brake for Left Hand Side. Were going to start off our install with the idler hub already removed from the trailer. This trailer previously did not have brakes so were going to add brakes to the trailer. Now if we add brakes to this trailer axle due to the fact that it has a brake flange already installed located here. The brake is very to install, Ill just make sure the mag is pointing at the bottom.more

Dexter Trailer Brakes 23-106 Review- Video

Today were going to review part #: 23-106, this is the Dexter 12 inch electric brake assembly for the right hand side of your trailer. This brake assembly is a size 12 inch by 2 inch and the way we do that measurement is the 12 inch would indicate the width of the brake shoe is what we measure here is 12 inches diameter. The 2 inch would indicate the width which is two inches of the brake shoe. This brake assembly when paired with a left hand assembly will be rater for 6000lbs axles. This brake assembly does use a five bolt mounting pattern, so what you need to do when you check you axle on your trailer, you want to check the brake mounting flange to make sure that it is a five bolt mounting flange. This is an electric brake assembly so there are two wires that will need to be connected.more

This assembly is a 12 by 2 brake assembly and the way you would measure that is the overall diameter of theshoes would be 12 inches and the width of the pad itself will be 2 inches. This is the right hand side which is the passengerside. When this assembly is paired with the left hand side it will fit on trailers that have axles with a maximum capacity of6,000 pounds. It does usually 12 inch hub and drum assemblies, and this does use the 5 hole mounting bolt pattern so youneed to check your brake mounting flange on your axle of your trailer to make sure it has the 5 hole mounting pattern.It also has the 2 wire leads, one is for ground, one is for the power or the brake feed.more

Today, were going to review part number 23-468. This is the Dexter 10-inch Nev-R Adjust Electric Brake Assembly for the left hand side. This Dexter assembly is a 10-inch by 2-1/4-inch left hand brake assembly and a way to measure that is if you go across the diameter of the of the shoes it should be 10 inches, and then if you measure the width it would be 2-1/4 inches. This assembly when paired with a right hand side assembly will give you a 3500-pound weight capacity for the pair. This does use 10-inch hub and drum assemblies and this brake assembly does include the mounting studs. The nuts and washers would have to be purchased separately and Ill give you the dimension of that mounting studs.more

Before you kept put this conversion kit on, double check to make sure the coupler at the front of your trailer is ready for disc brake use. Sometimes surge brake couplers arent designed for disc brakes. Now were going to start off with our trailer actual strip down it previously had drum brakes on it so we take off the hub and we take off the drum brake. We also pull the brake line out of the way. Today were going to take a look at the Dexter 7 inch hydraulic brake assembly part number 23-399. This assembly is a hydraulic brake assembly with a single servo meaning it has one piston that comes out of our wheel cylinder, pressing the shoe linings out against our drum surface. Couple this right hand side with the left hand side and its got a 2500 pound braking capacity. The reason we know this is the right hand side is because the leading shoe will always be smaller than the trailing shoe. The reason we know this is a 7 inch brake setup is you can measure across the shoe linings and see that its 7 inches.We measure the width of the shoe linings, well see its 1 and , so we have a 7 inch by 1 and inch setup. The installation is setup on a 4 bolt flange, you can see the heads of the stud go through the backing plate and come out the back, those mount to your flange on your axle.more

The mounting plate, 4 bolt assembly, you want to double check your flange assembly to make sure you have the 4 bolt stuff setup. When initially installing your brake assembly, youll need to use a star wheel adjuster to push the brake shoes out to your hub drum assembly so you create an even braking surface.So you need to adjust that star wheel out into the backing plate.more

This is a 12 by 2 assembly, we will measure the diameter across the shoes, and theres our 12 figure. Then we can measure the width of the shoe, and theres our 2 mark. When paired up with the right hand side assembly these brakes are good for axels rated up to 6,000 pounds. There are 2 different mounting configurations predrilled into the assembly back, you can either use the 5 bolt assembly with the smaller bolt holes, or you can use the Alco, or Hays 4 bolt assembly with the larger bolt holes. So check your axel to see if you have either the 5 bolt or the 4 bolt off set Alco / Hays pattern.more
