Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Dodge Ram 2500- Video

Today on this 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 we are going to be installing part number C600-659, the double lock gooseneck hitch by Curt. For the ease of installation we have gone ahead and removed the rear tires and the spare tires just to make things a little more accessible and easier to install. Our first step is going to be finding 47-1/2 inches off the edge of our truck bed as this is an 8 foot bed, or considered a long bed pickup. This is going to be our center mark between our wheel wells and it is also our mark for 47-1/2 inches off the edge of the bed. What I am going to do now is drill a pilot hole through the bed liner, just making a mark in the steel bed. I am just using it as a reference point in the steel bed because I am going to re-measure everything to make sure that the bed liner is square to the truck bed. I am taking out our push pins for the removal of our bed liner. Next I am going to get my torque spit and ratchet. We have four hold down hooks that are going to have to be removed. Here is the passenger rear corner. We are going to do the other three the same way. Now I am going to go ahead and pull this bed liner out. You can see here is the mark we made with our pilot hole through the bed liner. Now what we will want to do is re-measure this so that we can see if we are still at our 47-1/2 inch mark. And you will see now we are actually about a quarter of an inch off. We need to go towards the cab a quarter of an inch. I am going to go ahead and check my wheel well to wheel well measurement now. See if there is any difference there. There is a slight difference from side to side between the wheel wells. We are going to need to move towards the passenger side about 1/8 of an inch. OK, now we have our pilot hole through the bed that is going to mark out our larger hole once we get our gooseneck in place. 1:55more

Today on this 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, we are going to install part number 9464-38 from Draw-Tite. This is the Hide-A-Goose gooseneck hitch. What we have done so far is gone ahead and removed the spare tire and the wheels on the back axle. You do not have to take the tires off of the vehicle but it makes the installation a lot easier to do. Also in this case, it might be a good idea to loosen the exhaust up in order to have room to install the hitch head as well. In this case however, we are actually going to do it a little bit different. We are actually going to loosen the bed itself up, tilt it up and we will install the gooseneck hitch as one piece. There are three bolts on each side we need remove to loosen the bed. We have this one here, and on the back side towards the tailgate and there is one hidden at the very back end of the rail right here. We are going to use a piece of timber to help push up the bed and then we will use a small block of wood to actually hold it in there while we install the hitch itself. 1:02more

We also lowered the spare tire too to give us a little extra room if we need to. The first thing we are going to do is mark our location for our rail that goes towards the back of the bed and we are going to measure from the back edge of the bed itself up to the back edge of the rail as described in the instructions. Today on this 2001 Dodge Ram eight foot bed 2500 series we are going to install gooseneck hitch part number 9460-39. We need to do a couple of things first to get ready to install this hitch. First off we need to lower the spare tire so we have room to work underneath. Second, the fender well has a plastic cover on the inside. We need to remove that so we can get room for the side brackets to install those into the frame. First we will take off the mud flap and then we will take out the fender liner. After you drill out these two rivets you are going to need a right angle drill. These rivets never seem to do too much work so they just pop right off. This will be reinstalled once we get done. Next we are going to lower our exhaust. We are going to just take these rubber hangers, spray them down with some lubricant, and slide them off and push them off to the side. Also to take note this is an after market exhaust, basically the hitch is designed for stock exhaust in figurations. 01:16more

Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty- Video

Today, on this 2006 Ford F-250 Diesel, we will be installing Hide-a-Goose part number 9460-48. The first thing we want to do in preparation of installing our gooseneck assembly is go ahead and lower your exhaust down. Depending on your model year, this being a 2006, we just need to remove the rear most hanger here, but I actually want to take the whole bracket down off of the frame rail because we are going to be installing a new bracket piece to help lower the exhaust once the gooseneck is installed. There is just one bolt to the side of the frame we just want to set that off to the side because we will be reusing that bolt and flange nut assembly there. Now that we have the exhaust lowered, we can go ahead and slide our cross members into place. You do want to note that the two cross members that come with the installation kit are different. The front cross member has two extra holes here in the middle whereas the rear one does not. So, before we slide those into place we do want to install our carriage bolts into position because once we rails in place we will not be able to get the carriage bolts into place. We are going to be using 5/8 carriage bolts in these positions here. 1:05more

First thing we are going to do is go ahead and lower the spare tire and get it out of our way. We also want to remove the heat shield from this section directly over the exhaust and over the axle well. And then we also need to lower the exhaust off of its rear most hanger. With those three things done we can actually go up inside the bed and start by drilling our hole in the bed. We need to check with the directions to verify the appropriate length that you need to mark and drill your hole at. Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 GMC Sierra- Video

Today we are going to be installing Hide-a-Goose part number 9465-4434 on a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500. The first thing we want to do is to go ahead and lower the spare tire. That will give us a lot more room to install the gooseneck system. The second step is to go ahead and cut out a section of the heat shield, which is basically forward of the axle in between the two hat channels, which is basically parallel to the gas tank as well. We need to go ahead and cut that section out to allow us to get the crossmembers into place. OK, with that section of the heat shield removed, we want to next go inside the bed. And we are going to go ahead and mark and then drill our hole for the opening in the Hide-a-Goose system. You want to check with your directions to verify the appropriate dimension that you are going to be drilling from. On this particular short-bed model, we are going to go ahead and mark from the end of the bed at 44-1/2 inches, and then we just want to center that in between the two wheel wells, which will land us right in the center of this rib here. And with my dimensions marked out, I am just going to go ahead and center punch that location, and then we are going to go ahead and drill out our 3-1/2 inch hole.more

Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Rail Kit Installation - 2008 Ford Super Duty Pickup- Video

Today we are going to install part numbers 9460 and 4430. This is a Hide-a-Goose install kit for a 2008 Ford Super Duty pickup. This is a diesel version with a 6-foot bed. Next we are going to create some working room beneath the vehicle. We are going to take off this heat shield temporarily, and we are going to lower our exhaust system, too. That way we will have plenty of room to work with to put the head assembly between the two rails. This is the second exhaust bracket we need to lower, too. Once you have the secondary one down you can go ahead and actually pull the exhaust down a little bit out of the way to give you some more working room. Next, go ahead and loosen up the bed on this truck. It gives us a little bit easier working space underneath the vehicle. And once we get all the components installed underneath we can set the bed back in. We are just going to loosen the bed up, put some blocks in it, and maybe raise it 1-1/2 inches or so. Next, we will go ahead and mark off the bed so we know where to drill the hole. What you want to do is find the center rib and measure back on the bed, per the instructions. On our 6-foot bed, in this particular case, it is 47-7/8 inches. So from the back edge of the bed itself you want to mark off 47-7/8 inches and then you want to center it in between the fender wells. It is kind of handy to use these edges of the bed itself. We are looking at 24-1/2 to the center. And what we will do next is go ahead and punch our mark, just enough so we can see a dimple on the bottom side of the pickup, because we will save drilling the hole for one of the last things we need to do. We just loosened the bed and we have got it propped up with these blocks right here. And on the 6-foot bed, it looks like it is a little bit tail heavy, so we have got plenty of space up in front.more

To make it easier maybe go all the way this far back. But for necessity purposes we need from here to here for the rails. We cut out our heat shield and left an inch or so hanging off. We took a rubber mallet and beat it back and keep it away from the sharp edges as much as possible. Our next step will be to loosen the bed so we can slide the rails underneath the truck. First thing to do is lower the spare tire. The next step involved is to go ahead and sliding the rails into the bed of the pickup truck. They will fit in between the bed and the frame. What we will do is slide them sideways and once we get them in place we will flip them up to the right side up. We also installed one bolt loosely in the rail because we will use that when we want to attach the head assembly on. The bolt has to be facing this way because once we have it in place we will not be able to tighten it down or get to it very well. Also there are two different lengths as well. The short one goes in the front and long one goes towards the rear. Next we will go ahead, since we have the rails in there, we will flip them up into position. The stickers will tell you which way to go with it. Next step involved is to go ahead and mark the bed so we can drill our hole in the center of the bed. The instructions will tell you exactly what to do, basically you will get a measurement from the rear of the bed to right above the axle and center it left to right. Once you do that, you go ahead and make a punch mark and get ready to drill it out. In this case were going to go ahead and punch it out and drill a small hole just to make sure this is a spray on bed liner.more
