Today on this 2006 Dodge Durango we are going to install part number 118390 from Tow Ready. This is our wiring harness this is the modulite. First thing we need to do is get inside the vehicle and we will take off the tail lights by taking out these two plastic rivets. There are little pins going towards the body of the vehicle so you have got to rock it back and forth for it to come lose. And to completely take off the tail light you undo this connection right here and push this red button up. All right we will go ahead and do the same thing on the passenger side. Next what we are going to do is take our wire harness and we are going to the 4-pole in down behind the bumper towards the ground for now. Our lead with the red, yellow, and brown wires we are going to hook up to the wiring harness that was going to the tail light. Do not forget to push your red lock back into place. We are just going to leave that there for now. 00:55 more

Now I will take a block of wood and we will just put up it in between the bumper structure and the fascia so we will have a little more working room and then we will start working on cutting out the Styrofoam. We will go ahead and put the hitch up into position to give us an idea of where it is going to go.00:27 more

Today we are going to show you part number 1370400 from Highland. This is their SportWing Four Bike Bike Rack. This bicycle rack can hold up to four bicycles and you can take the back part of the rack off and only have a two bike rack if needed. It has eight movable nesting cradles two per bike. This will fit only a two inch receiver hitch and it also has a long extension tube that keeps the bikes away from the back of the vehicle so you do not have to worry about them bouncing around back there. The arms that hold the bikes are actually made of a lightweight aluminum. So it saves weight whenever possible for the bicycle rack. Movement and noise is virtually eliminated by securing the bicycles by the wheels and using the pedal straps that are included with the bike rack. 00:38 more

You have got a lot invested in your tow vehicle and trailer, and we are not just talking dollars and cents. The comfort and safety of you and your family are key when towing a trailer. With recent advances in technology, tow vehicles are even more powerful, but the vehicles and their frames are getting lighter. Meanwhile the trailers they pull are getting heavier. The bottom line, yesterdays technology does not always work with todays payloads. That is why you need to make sure you vehicle is properly equipped to safely handle the load you are pulling under any conditions, on any surface, with any load. And that is why it is important to understand weight distribution and sway control technology and how it effects your tow vehicle and trailer. :46 more

Next we will go ahead and talk about the ground on the tail lights themselves. Potential problems that could happen there. We have done all of the steps to make sure the grounds are good and then your lights still are not working then chances are it is with the tail light ground itself. Lets go move back there. On this particular ground problem here we see the blinker working but it is not as bright as it should be and also if you want to take a look at it, take a look at the truck. We actually have our running lights working too but we do not have the running lights working on the tail light. You can see how the tail light is trying to work but it is actually opposite the truck. The truck goes on the light goes off. They should be in time with each other. It could be something simple as a loose light. So we can actually just take the nuts in back and just tighten them down to see if we get any better performance out of it. 01:14 more

Next we are going to go to less obvious stuff. Say for instance you have got your ground wire hooked back up to the frame and weird stuff happening out back. We will have to dig into the wire itself a little bit. In this case basically you want to check your wiring connection. You have a wiring connection right here that could be a potential problem right there. Chances are whatever fitting you used to put the wiring together might come loose. And also we have something kind of obvious too. The wire here has a little bit of road rash on it. You can see the bare wires on the inside. Even though it may still be making contact eventually this wire here will corrode up inside there and it will just lose contact so we are basically going to have a broken wire eventually. Lets go ahead and take this apart here we will see what we have got on the inside. 01:14 more

All right today we are going to install part number 66154 from Reese. This is our weight distribution assembly their SC series. All right what this weight distribution does is actually picks up the ton weight of the trailer and shoves the weight over the axle of the trailer and also on to the front axles of the towing vehicle. All right, to begin our install what we are going to have to do is get our truck and trailer on level ground. It is really important that you have the trailer as level as possible. We got on the concrete here so it is not too hard. However if you are in doubt or on gravel or some uneven surface to install this basically you want to run your trailer up maybe 1/ 4 inch to 1/ 2 inch higher up front just to give you a little bit of leeway to make sure. All right the next steps involved is going to find the shank. :45 more

There are two tie downs next to the side panels, we will take those out next. Today on this 1995 Buick LeSabre, we are going to install part number 24625 from Draw-tite. The hitch is going to sit on top of the energy absorber and the bracket is going to sit on top of that, so that means we are going to have to take this bolt out. It gets replaced and this one here we are going to take loose, put some spacers behind it, and then put it back together. So the bracket will match the width of the hitch itself. The first thing you want to do when you first start working on electrical problems is you want to divide and conquer. You have two parts here, the truck and the trailer. You want to verify which one actually has the problem. Chances are it is going to be on the trailer, but then again you still want to check the truck too. So use a separate light tester, hook a ground not to the frame but to the 4-pull ground itself because this is what is going to carry the ground to the trailer. :52 more

Now we will move on to another circuit. In this case it will be the right turn circuit. And we will just check the signal on that. On the right turn signal here again, the same principle applies. Start from the front and work you way back. What happens a lot is that on some of these lights here where the wire gets ran in behind it, there is a channel that these wires fit into. However a lot of times, even on brand new trailers. This wire actually does not fit in the channel, they miss when they put it together. The wire gets smashed between the light and the frame of the trailer. Eventually they wear down to a minuscule spec of wire that is visible but it will cause a short and all kinds of headaches. more

We will go through this trailer we have here and try to find some problems with it and show you what to look for. Basically when you are dealing with a short you are going to look for physical evidence. And that means tracing the wire from the front all the way out back. So what is going to happen is basically we are going to start at the plug. Generally it is going to be somewhere down here that has a problem like it has extra extra long length here and it is going to be dragging on the ground so it gets some road rash in there. more

Today on this 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD we will be installing Hide-A-Goose part number 9463-34. We are underneath the vehicle and the first thing we want to do is go ahead and take the spare tire out and get it out of our way. Next thing in preparation we want to go ahead and lower the exhaust off of its two rearmost hangers. We have got one right here and one forward up here. To remove the exhaust off of its hangers I am just going to go ahead and spray the stud down with a lubricant like a WD-40 and you can either take a crowbar or a pair of pliers and pry that off of there. The next step is to go ahead and remove the heat shield over the section just forward of the rear axle here. From here to here is the section we need to remove. And we can do this by one of two ways: we can go ahead and unscrew the entire heat shield by removing the bolts that are holding it on or we can just take a cutting tool and go ahead and just cut that section out, which is what I am going to go ahead and do. Okay now we have the heat shield cut and out of the way we want to next bend down the heat shield for the gas tank itself so it will not interfere with the cross members when we go to put them in place. more

Today on this 2006 Saturn Ion we are going to install part number 24734 from Draw-Tite. This also applies to part number 60989 from Hidden Hitch. Looking up at the passenger side of the vehicle the hitch is going to mount to the frame through this area right here. There are no existing holes for the hitch to attach to so we will end up drilling those out, using the hitch as a template. Now looking at the drivers side, the hitch will mount the same way as the passenger side, we will have to drill some holes in the frame to mount it up. more

Today on this 1998 Chevrolet Suburban, we are going to install part number 75037 from Draw-Tite. This install also applies to part number 87546 from Hidden Hitch. Look at the passenger side here, we are going to show you exactly where the hitch is going to mount up. It is actually going to use these three existing holes that is going to be identical on both sides. All right, first thing we are going to do is enlarge the holes on the end of the frame. We are going to make those up to 1/ 2 inch. It is almost the same size as now but this is just to give a little extra room for the bolts. Now the next two holes here, we are going to enlarge to 9/ 16. Again it gives it better wiggle room to pull the bolt and the pull wire through. When you do this on the driver side be careful because the wire harness is laying inside the frame so be careful when you do that side. more

Today on this 2006 Dodge Charger we will be installing Curt hitch part number 13465. We are underneath the vehicle and before we get started we need to go ahead and lower the exhaust off of both frame rails so that we can gain access to the existing weld nuts in the frame. There are two hangers per side that we are going to remove the exhaust off of. One here and one here on the driver side and then one here and here on the passenger side. And on some models it may be necessary to go ahead and remove the third hanger as well to gain just a little bit more room. more

Today on this 2006 Toyota Highlander, we are going to install part number 118248. First off we are going to have to get inside the vehicle. We will open up the hatch. We will start taking apart the floor components. Just roll this back. Flip this forward and this tray needs to come out. There are two rivets for the floor here. Take this out of the way. Next we are going to take this threshold off. We will pop this little rivet right here out. One on each side. And this component comes off and now you need to take this little tray out. There is another rivet right here we have to take out. And there is two nuts on the bottom of the tray that have to come out also. more
