Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2003 Chevy Malibu
Today we are going to install part number 118002 from Tow Ready. This is a 4 pole wiring flat which we will have to hard wire into this 2003 Chevy Malibu. The first step is to get access to the trunk and wiring harness. Generally most vehicles will have wires around both sides of the vehicle and underneath the carpet. Sometimes they run them all the way to one side and then to the other. So lets get started removing the interior to get to the wiring harness. Now that we found these wires we can use the light testers to find out which wires do what.
From here you can pull your wire out and just reinstall our carpet. At this point you might want to figure out where and how you are going to run any wires. We are going to run it down behind the carpet right here towards the bottom. To use a harness just go ahead and pull it out and the door seal will be plenty thick enough to move back and forth if needed. You can then shut the hatch on it. Just keep it away from the latch itself and we can just pull out more as we need. Naturally when you are not using it you can keep it back up inside the trunk. There you have it for part number 118002 installed on a 2003 Chevy Malibu.
