Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2007 GMC Canyon

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118301 on a 2007 GMC Canyon. All right, we are underneath the vehicle now, and we have removed the spare tire to gain a little more access. Over here on the drivers side frame rail, we are at the rear end, where the first crossmember meets the frame, you can see the plug-in right here. And that is the plug that we are going to be using to plug our T-harness into. To disconnect the harness, we just want to depress the button here and pull them apart. And then we simply want to take our T-connector and plug it in line. You want to push it in until you hear the click.

OK, and you can see here on the harness as well we have a white wire with a ring terminal on the end of it that is going to be our ground wire. I am going to go ahead and take the self-tapping screw that is provided in the installation kit and just screw that on right there. You can also see on the back side of the converter box here we have got double-sided tape. This nice, flat portion of the trailer hitch is where I am going to mount it. And then I am just going to take the 4-pole here and just feed it up and bring it out here at the front of the trailer hitch. And the only thing left to do is to secure any loose wires that you may have, and you may use the cable ties that are provided in the installation kit to do so. OK, and with the wires secured up and out of the way, the installation will be complete. And this concludes the installation of wiring harness part number 118301 on a 2007 GMC Canyon.
