Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2007 Chrysler 300C
Today we are going to install part number 28406 from Tow Ready. We are going to install this on a 2007 Chrysler 300C. The first step we have to do is get into a trunk area. Then we need to take off these wing nuts to take out this carpeting and expose the wiring that we need to get to. We need to do that on both sides. There is a little plastic fastener that would help for it to come apart too. There is the wiring we need to get to right there. Now pull back this trunk panel right here, exposing the battery and spare tire. Then we will take the wing nut on the other side and get to the wiring there too. Lastly we are going to take off this interior panel right here. Starting on our driver side, we will go ahead and disconnect here and install our T-connector. Simply push this red button out the way, press on the end, and it comes right apart.
Then just go ahead and reinstall the T-connector the same way it came off. Again do not forget, when you make your connections, push that red button back in. For now we will let this wire sit in there and let the panel go back into place. Then we will go to the other side, the passenger side of the vehicle, and make our connections there. We will let that sit back behind the panel too. Tuck that back there, let that fall back into place. Our first 2 connections we need to make is going to the positive terminal and we need to make our ground. What we did for the battery already is disconnect the ground so we can work on it and not short out anything by accident. We will work on our positive terminal first. That will be located in the power box here. Getting underneath the power distribution box here, this red wire comes from the battery terminal. We will want to disconnect it and run our yellow wire right there. Next what we will want to do is make our ground connection with the white wire. We will go ahead and use this built in ground right here on the frame. We have our connections made to our battery we can now go ahead and reconnect our ground terminal. It already has a fuse so we are good to go there. We are going to put our lid back on our power box. In the mean time we want to find a nice spot where to mount our converter box. Usually the square panel right here will do just fine.
So we are going to clean this off and stick it to it. Then we are going to run our 4 pole out the side here and we can still get our lid off if we need to. Make sure you get good even contact on the metal there. Then tuck our wires, our power wire we can simply tuck back in here. That way you can just zip tie our wires back up in there. Moving to the other side we need to go ahead and zip tie those up and keep them out of the way. Now we can start putting the panels back together. Start with the back panel and after that we are going to button up our side panels. Next we can go ahead and put our tray back down here and with that your install is complete. And to show you how to use it is pretty simple. Basically you just pull this out the length that you need and make sure you stay away from the latch and you can shut your door on it. Then you can tell you have plenty of space in there because the seal is so huge you can just pull it out as needed. And when you are not using it, again you can simply just tuck it underneath this tray right here, just keep it with your spare tire. It is out of the way and is safe and sound. And that concludes our install of part number 18406 from Tow Ready.
