Today we are going to install part number 118417 on a 2007 Chevy Impala. The connection point for the T1 wiring harness is behind the passenger side tail light assembly. Right behind the bumper here. To access this we will have to open up the trunk and remove some of the fasteners to get the tail assembly off. We need to gain access to the fasteners that are holding the tail light assembly on. In doing so we are going to need to remove this screw here, there is one on each side. That will allow us to remove this back flange here. It might be sort of hard to see but there are actually 3 fasteners holding the tail light assembly on. We need to take all 3 of these off. That will allow us to remove the tail light assembly. Then you just want to carefully pry away and you can see the tail light assembly removes fairly easily.
With the tail light assembly removed you can see the fastener here and this is the fastener we are going to be using to hook up our T1 assembly into. You see on the backside of the fastener there is a little push pin. We want to push that in and release the connector here. Then we are going to plug our T harness in line to that. From there we want to attach our ground. We can actually attach it to the back side metal here where the tail light assembly goes. You just want to make sure that wherever you drill through for you mounting hole that there is nothing on the back side that you are going to drill into. With the ground mounted we can go ahead and re-clip the T assembly back into place here. We are going to route the T connector down through the hole in between the bumper and the body all the way down below. With the harness connected and the 4-pole mounted down below, we can go ahead and put the tail light assembly back on.
OK, we are back under the vehicle and we just want to go ahead and route the 4-pole up over the bumper brackets here. So that it is out of the way of the exhaust. We can attaching it using the zip ties that are provided in the installation kit here. With the excess wire stored up and under the vehicle our installation is complete. This will conclude the installation of part number 118417 on a 2007 Chevy Impala.
