Today on this 2006 Jeep Wrangler we are going to be installing T-One connector part number 118409 from Tow Ready. We are also going to be using the seven way bracket connector part number 18138 from Tow Ready and then we are going to use the 7 to 4-pole adapter part number 30717 from Hoppy. First we will start off with the T-one connector and we will make the first connection behind the passenger side tail light. We will pull down the plastic cover on the bottom. You will have to reach up inside towards the sheet metal in the back of the vehicle and you will look for a wire connector that is wrapped up in foam tape. The wires without the loom around it are behind the sheet metal there. The wire harness you need to pull back out gently and pull out the connectors with the foam tape wrapped around it. 00:44
Once you have the tape pulled off push the button on one side and then you can release the lock and then the connector will come apart and we will go ahead and install the T-One connector that will fit in between those two pieces. Remember the green wire is for the right turn signal so start off with that one. We can push our wire connector back into place and we will put our plastic back and then we will ground the white wire to the frame of the vehicle. We are going to run the wire all the way to the other side and the 4-pole itself we are going to leave at the center of the hitch. We are going to leave it hang there for now and we are going to put our adapter on top of that. Then we will continue with the yellow and brown wire over to the driver side. 01:26
The connection on the driver side is farther up in the cavity but it is a lot easier to see also. Next we will install the bracket and we will mount that to the preexisting bracket that is on the hitch itself. We will do that using existing hardware that came with the existing 7-pole bracket. With the bracket installed we will install the 7-pole adapter. On the 7 to 4-pole adapter ground wire, we are going to attach to the cross member on the frame behind the hitch in front of the gas tank and then we will use a number 14 self tapping screw for that. Connect the 4-pole connections together and we will apply a little contact grease to them and then we will put some electric tape around the connection and a zip tie to finally hold everything together. Next we will take the wires and zip tie them to the bumper or anything else we can to keep them safe and out of the way. Once we have everything zip tied together we will test the wire harness itself with a light tester and then we will check it out with a trailer. With that, that finishes our installation of a wiring harness 118409 on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler.
