Installation of a Wiring Harness on a 2006 Honda Accord
Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118302 on a 2006 Honda Accord. We are inside the trunk area here. The connection points are actually located behind the tail light assembly, so we are going to need to remove this rear threshold piece. There are push rivets located here that are holding the threshold piece on. I am going to take a flat-bladed screwdriver and just gently pull up. OK, next I am going to go ahead and remove the carpeting. To do so, there are two Phillips-head screws that we are going to take out. We are going to remove the plastic plugs that are in here as well, and that will allow us to pull the carpeting back here. So here on the drivers side we are going to go ahead and make all three of our connections.
We are going to start with the connector with the yellow wire, and that one is going to actually plug into the top plug-in here on the drivers side, and then back into the tail light. The second connector, with the brown and red wires, that is going to plug into the lower connector on the back of the tail light. And lastly we are going to take the connector with the green wire, single-sided here. See, there is a little connector here taped to the main wiring harness right in between the two connections that we just made. Here, below where our connections were made, you can see there is a grounding stud. We are going to take that, remove the bolt there, and add our ground wire to that connection point. We want to mount our converter box here.
As you can see here on the back side, we have got a piece of double-sided tape. I am just going to go ahead and probably mount that directly, down here next to where the main wiring harness is. The connector is going to stay inside the trunk here when not in use. And when we go to use it, we are just going to pull it out of the trunk here. The weatherstripping here along with the threshold will prevent the harness from pinching at all. From there, we just need to put the interior of the vehicle back together and then our installation will be complete. You may want to secure any loose wires that you may have here with a zip-tie that is provided in the installation kit. This will conclude the installation of wiring harness part number 118302 on a 2006 Honda Accord.
