Today on this 2006 Ford Taurus we are going to install wiring harness part number 18002 from Tow Ready. This is a 4-pole flat car end, 60 inches long with the wire taps. Our install is going to begin on the inside of the trunk and we will get to the wiring harness, which is located on the passenger side of the vehicle, behind the carpeting. :18
This is our main wire harness. We will pull away the tape that leads to the main wires. You can double check that it goes to this tail light and also to the opposite tail light. What you want to do first is make a ground so we have something for our tester to work off of. There is not really a body ground in there. The ground goes into the body here. :40
Okay we will start testing our wires. First we will check the running light circuit. Go ahead and turn it off to make verify it is the right one. No more signal, so that means that is our running light circuit. That is the brown wire so we can go ahead and make our first connection to that. What we will do is use our wire tap here, also known as a quick splice, and all it does is snaps over one wire, and the other wire slips in right next to it, and t hat metal piece in the middle cuts through the plastic and make a connection between the two. A squeeze of the pliers and that is it. Now we will do the left turn signal. Alright it looks like the left turn is green with a red stripe. So we will connect our yellow wire for left turn to the wire we tested. Now we will move on to the right hand turn signal. That looks like orange with a blue stripe, so we will connect our green wire to that. And again, we will double check our connections. Green for right turn, all right lets do left turn. 1:53
Okay we are all good on that part so all we have to do now is make a ground. Use a simple ring terminal, strip back the wire, and we will redo the ground. The 4-pole will get stored in the trunk area when it is not in use. When you do need to use it, pull it out and shut the lid on it. This door seal right here is thick enough where it will not hurt the wire. Just stay away from latches and you will be fine. Pull out what you need to get to the trailer hitch. And with that, that finishes our install of part number 18002 from Tow Ready.
Today on our 1998 Ford Taurus wagon well be installing the Draw Tite upgraded circuit protected taillight converter hardware kit, part number 119175KIT. To begin our installation well first open up the rear cargo door. Then were going to remove the taillight assemblies from their position on each side. To do this well remove the two fasteners securing the taillight. Now as we remove the taillight housing from its position, popping it out of place, be careful not to break the alignment tab underneath. Now well remove the interior quarter panel on the drivers side.
Today, on this 2012 Ford Taurus, we're going to install part number 118493 from Tow Ready.First thing you need to do is open up the trunk and take your threshold here with pull up on it to pop it out loose thn we are going to loosen up the liner on each side. Now we can go ahead and start our install of the wires. This is our wire harness going to the tail light, we'll disconnect it and with our T-connector with the green and red wires, we'll hook those up with the other half of the harness of the tail light and plug it back on the other side. Then we'll take the ground wire and attach it with this sector ground wire here. We'll go ahead and clean up the spot for our module which is a sheet metal right here. We'll leave that alone for now and we'll take the yellow wire, we'll route it to the other side and we'll make a connection point over there. Alright at this point we'll go ahead and reinstall our interior panels.
Today on the 2009 Ford Taurus were going to be installing Wiring Harness part # 118447. Were starting off inside the trunk of our Taurus and were going to start up by locating the ports that were going to be plugging our wiring harness into. This ports are located on both the driver and passengers side of the vehicle behind the carpeting here in their basically mounted behind each one of the tail lights. So were going to need to remove a few things to gain access to those ports I'm going to start by removing this rear threshold piece first and there are several fasteners that are holding it in into the place. You remove the push pin fasters and I'm going to be using a basic ribit removal tool if you don't have one of these you can just use a flatted screw driver. We got some screw to tie down points and again pop-out the fasteners at the top.
Today we are working on a 2001 Ford Taurus. We will be installing Tow Ready T-one connector part number 118375. First we will need to access the trunk of the vehicle. We are going to remove the spare tire well cover. Next we are going to remove the rear threshold. To do that, we have a total of five fasteners. We have a cargo hook here and one identical on the passenger side. Then we will remove the three push button fasteners across the bottom. Alright, with our three fasteners removed, I am just going to pull out on the bottom of our threshold here. Slowly work it up. With our rear threshold removed, we can pull the carpeting back and expose the rear taillight wiring. Here is our connector. Pull out a little bit on the locking tab. Disconnect them. We will take our green wire connector and plug it in line with the manufacturers wiring harness. Make sure you press them firmly in place until the locking tabs reconnect. 0:57
