Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring
This Product Fits The Following Vehicles
2005 - 2007 Ford Escape
Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 30130 for a 2006 Ford Escape. The attachment points for the wiring harness are going to be located behind the taillight assemblies, so the first thing we are going to do is to remove the taillight assemblies from the vehicle. That is going to require removing the two screws here on the inboard side. You want to be careful when removing the taillight assembly to make sure you do not break any of the locking tabs that are inside. You want to go ahead and do that on both sides of the vehicle.
OK, with the taillight assembly pulled back, we are over here on the drivers side. And you can see there are three connectors visible. The wiring harness is going to utilize two of those. And we are going to use the one with the yellow wire, is going to connect to the one in the middle. The one with the red wire is going to connect on top. So we want to go ahead and disconnect the connectors from the taillight harness, and we are going to plug our wiring harness in line. Then we are going to remove the middle one here, and then we are going to plug the connector with the yellow wire in line there. OK, now that we have got the connectors connected here on the drivers side, we want to go ahead and mount the grounds ring terminal. We are going to ahead and just drill a hole using the self-tapping screw that is provided, into the metal here, to hold it in place. And now with the connectors and the ground screw mounted on the drivers side, we want to go ahead and route the wires to the 4-pole and the green-wired over to the passengers side. We are going to do so by ping the wires down through the hole in between the bumper and the body here. OK, with the wires run down below, we can go ahead and put the taillight assembly back on the drivers side.
OK, we are back up under the vehicle now, and you can see that we have got the wires, the 4-pole, and the green wire that is going over to the passengers side. We want to also go ahead and mount the black converter box. We actually are going to mount it on the back side of the bumper here, down where we ped the wires through. So you want to go ahead and clean off a little bit of the area, make sure we have got a good sticking point. There is actually double-sided tape on the back side of the converter box that we are going to use to hold it into place. With that taped up into place, we are going to go ahead and route the 4-pole over to the middle to mount it to the hitch itself. And then obviously the green wire is going to go all the way across and go up behind the taillight housing. I have gone ahead and pulled the connector through the opening behind the taillight on the passengers side here. And we want to go ahead and connect it to the middle connector on the taillight assembly. And then we can go ahead and put the taillight assembly back on. All right, once both of those connectors are connected we just want to go ahead and secure all the loose wires up under the vehicle. All right, this concludes the installation of part number 30130 on a 2006 Ford Escape.
