Today on this 2004 Jeep Wrangler we will be installing wiring harness part number 118409. We are underneath the Wrangler here, we are actually directly under the tail-light assembly underneath the car. The ports that we are going to be looking for to plug our harness into are located up above this rubber covering here. So we need to pull this back to gain access to the port. You can see we have one push pin here that is holding it into place, so we need to release that first.
Here is the port we are going to be plugging our harness into. We need to separate those two pieces and to do so, you can kind of see here from the backside there is a tab there at the top. We just need to press that in and separate the two pieces. We will next take our harness and go ahead and plug it into place. Over here on the drivers side we are going to be connecting the ports that have the yellow and brown wires in it. And I am just going to pull that in line with the connectors that we just separated.
Okay then we are going to take the other connector with the green and white wires, we are going to mount it over the frame rail here. Do this as well with the 4-pull end. Feed it over to the middle area where the 4-pull is going to be tied off here at the trailer hitch. And then we will continue the other connector over and plug it into the passenger side. You can see on the passenger side that the connector is not not easily visible. What we are going to do is take and just trace the loom that is feeding up to the tail light. It is kind of in between the body and the bumper here. Pull that access portion of it out, and you can see we have located our connector there and it is covered in protective tape. You want to go ahead and pull the tape off of there, and again just take and push the release pin, or button here, separate the two connectors, and plug our harness in line.
Then next we are going to take our ground wire here and we are actually going to go ahead and mount it directly to the frame using a self tapping screw that is provided with our installation kit. Hook our connector back up behind the bumper here. Then we will reinstall our protective cover. Than we can go back over the the drivers side and pull the excess wire back up into the compartment here. And here are the zip-ties that are proved with the installation kit. And we can go ahead and replace the cover on the drivers side as well. Okay then I am going to come back to the front here where the 4-pull is and again if you have any extra loose wires just kind of hanging low you can take the remaining zip-ties and you can zip-tie the wires to some of the holes in the bumper. And this will conclude the installation of wiring harness part number 118409 on a 2004 Jeep Wrangler.
