Installation of a Wiring Harness for a Trailer on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Today we will be installing wiring harness part number 118409 on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. We are underneath the vehicle we are actually directly below where the tail lights are on the back side of the vehicle. You can see it has got this kind of vinyl cover here underneath the body. We are going to have to actually pull back the wiring harness locations for both sides they are back up in here. So, to do that, you can see there is a push pin right here that needs to be pulled out, which can be kind of difficult to do, but it does come out. And that will allow us to pull the cover off. And if you can see, there is the harness. It has got some tape over it, but it is located right here.

So what we want to do is go ahead and separate that, and we are going to plug our harness in line. And we are going to need to do that on both sides of the vehicle. We want to plug this side of the wiring harness with the yellow wire on it into the drivers side. And then we will go ahead and route it over, and again, do the same thing for the passengers side. And then over here on the passengers side, again, with the cover pulled back, you can see the harness here. Just connect those two, and then we are going to plug our harness in line. The side of the harness with the green wire is connected to the passengers side of the vehicle. And, as you can see here, on the passengers side as well we have got a ground terminal. And I am going to go ahead and ground that to the side of the frame here, as well. OK, and with the ground screws secured, we can go ahead and put our covers back up. And we want to use the zip-ties that are provided with the kit to go ahead and tie up any loose wires that we have on the harness here. With our wires secured up and out of position, our installation is complete. This will conclude the installation of wiring harness part number 118409 on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler.
