Today on this 1994 Ford Full Size Van, Club Wagon, we are going to install part number 118343 from Tow Ready. This T-1 connector connects behind both tail lights. What we are going to do is first remove the tail lights. We are going to let this sit just like this and go over to the other side and do the same thing. :21
Second, remove the bottom threshold inside the vehicle, and then we will make our connections. We have to take out the plastic threshold because we need to run a wire from the passenger side over to the drivers side. Take off this weather seal, and take out the plastic rivets to give us more working room so we can sneak the wire through here. Next, we are going to take off the cover of our jack storage compartment. From the inside you can see where we will route our wires to the tail light. 1:08
Lets go ahead and feed our wire harness through the hole, we are going to use the end with the red, brown, and green wire. We will do our connections one at a time. It looks like there is a lot, but it is not too bad really. First, we are going to start with the green wire, that is going to be our turn signal, so find out the turn signal and do that connection first. Be careful with these tabs, they do break easily over time, this one is already broken. Pull it apart, and it comes apart. Then we take the T-1 harness and plug it back into the original spot. Then we take the other half of the T, and plug that back into the factory wire harness. Next thing we are going to do is the running light and brake signal, that is going to be that part with the brown wire and the brake wire. It is going to be the center one here. Then we will take the remaining ground wire, and run it in the sheet metal screw right into the body work here. With that tightened down we can go ahead and reinstall the tail light assembly. We will go ahead and take the yellow wire, and pull it all the way across, tuck a little bit of it beneath the carpet, and take this and put it behind the plastic here, and out the hole to the opening in the tail light. 2:36
Our yellow wire is going to go over to the left turn signal, the top one again. Just pop off the connector and replace it with the T-connector. Put that back together. We can go ahead and put our tail light assembly back on. Lets go ahead and put the threshold back into place and reinstall all the fasteners. We can also put in our other weather strip here. Now we need to find a nice clean spot to mount the converter box, there is a nice piece of adhesive that comes with it. We will clean off this piece of sheet metal and attach the converter there. Then close up the jack storage compartment. When the 4-pole is not being used it can be stored in the jack storage compartment. When you need to use it just pull it out and shut t he door on it. The weather seal is so thick it will not mash the wire, just make sure you stay away from the latch itself. That finishes our install of part number 118343 from Tow Ready.
