Today we are going to install part number 118382 from Tow Ready, and we are going to install this T-1 harness on a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The connection points on our T-1 harness are going to be behind the tail lights on the passengers side as well as the drivers side. What we are going to have to do is to take off the tail lights to get to the connection point. So first off, I am going to open up the doors and remove the tail lights. We will need to take out these two screws here, and then the light assembly will pop off. OK, here is the connection point right here. So what we have got to do is disconnect this point here from the tail light, and we are actually going to remove the whole tail light assembly from the vehicle just for now. There is a little red tab right here that we have to push up to unlock it. Squeeze right here and it comes right apart. This little clip right here, we have got to undo that, too. All right, we are going to do this on both sides of the vehicle.
We will start our install on the drivers side first. We will run our 4-pole down through behind the bumper and out the bottom. And our converter box is going to go back there, too. And also, our passengers side is going to go down there and eventually is going to go across to the other side. We will just tuck it in there, and we will pull it out the bottom when we need to. Next we will make our ground screw connection. This is going to go in the body work back here, just about right there, and then we will install our screw. Now we will take one-half our T-connector and that is going to plug back into the factory harness. Then it will snap together, and we will put that red tab back in there. Now it is locked down, and that part is ready to go. This other half we will plug into our tail light assembly.
And at this point we can go ahead and reassemble the tail light onto the vehicle. All right, once you have the wires pulled out, go ahead and locate that little converter box. And you will feel it, it should be right in front of a flat section of the body work behind the bumper. Take a towel and clean off the back part of that structure there, and then you can use the stick-on that is behind the converter box to adhere it to. All right, next we will take the other half of our harness and run it over to the passengers side. What we will do is run it above the hitch itself and we will zip-tie it to the hitch when we are done with it. With that routed across, we will take our 4-pole and do approximately the same thing but come out by the middle of the hitch. We will actually just lay it up there for now. We have got our slack and then we will bundle the rest of the excess on top of our hitch and zip-tie it to that, too. All right, we will make our last two connections here. Again we have got the wiring harness in the vehicle plugged into the matching half on the other side. Then we will take our leftover harness T-1 connector and we will zip-tie that to the wire, just give that a little bit of extra security, to keep it from going anywhere it is not supposed to. OK, and then we can reinstall our tail light. OK, just one final check of the wires to make sure everything is in its place and not touching anything that is hot. And that will conclude your install of part number 118382 from Tow Ready on our 2006 Jeep Liberty.
