Today we are going to review part number WT89008 from WeatherTech. This is their sunroof wind deflector. This is the wind noise we have cruising about 55 to 60 miles an hour. We will compare this after the installation and then we will see how much of a difference we have. In this instance we are going to install on a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. This is the typical set of hardware that we are going to install on the wind deflector and this part actually grips the edge of the sheet metal at the sunroof, this is a protective ring for the screw where it goes to the plastic on the wind deflector and this part here attaches to the screw which holds everything together. Lets do a quick sub assembly right now. These two pieces slide together. They get screwed together just like this and the wind deflector would be in the middle. 00:49
At this point we will install it on the vehicle and add the wind deflector. We will set the wind deflector down for now and when we have it here you can see it comes with a weather seal that pushes against the vehicle and conforms to the roof line. Scoot it out of the way a little bit, then take the metal bracket and it is going to catch underneath the edge of the seal and it gets slid up to this corner right in there. Then we will push our deflector to line up the holes, just a few turns to hold it in place, and then we will do the other side. You just want to keep it just enough to attach it so you can scoot it around as needed. Just have it loosely assembled and then have it centered on the vehicle the way you want it and then tighten down the screws. A few easy steps and the wind deflector is already installed. Now lets take it out for a road test. Now we are making our run with the wind deflector in place. Notice the difference. There you have it for part number WT89008, the WeatherTech sunroof visor.
