Today we are going to review part number 1157300 from Highland. This is their cast aluminum ratcheting tie down. A couple details about this is that it is 1 inch wide by 10 feet long. It has a breaking strength of 1,800 pounds and a safe working load limit of 600 pounds. The ratchet itself is constructed out of cast aluminum and also has some plastic edges around the handle to keep from messing up anything that you are tying down. And the hooks themselves, on the end of the straps are coated and they are constructed from steel also. And what is nice about the coating is, again if you are going to tie something down that has a nice finish on it, you do not want it to mar it up with the hooks. 0:36
We will show you the operation of the ratchet first. The strap gets installed through this slot right in the middle here. We have our strap here with the 10 foot length. Once you have it wound through the middle of the ratchet, and you can just go ahead and tighten it up just like that. And when you need to release it, push this blue button, pull it all of the way flat and then you can go ahead and pull the strap out. 0:57
Now we will go ahead and show this in a practical application. Alright, we will go ahead and start off with our hook on the 10 foot end of it. And you can hook it on any part of your trailer. Actually, every trailer is different. We are just going to use this as a tie down point. Throw it to the other side of our load. Take the end of our strap. Run it through the center of our ratchet. Take up our slack by hand, and then let us go ahead and run down to our tie down point. We have our ratchet strap here and then we will take our ratchet and just tighten it up. That finished our review of part number 1157300 from Highland. This review also applies to part number 1157100 for a quantity of one and part number 1157200 a quantity of two.
