Today we are going to take a look at the Diversitech 2-1/2 inch adapter, part number dtadp35. Included with the adapter kit is the adapter sleeve and extended lock for 2-1/2 inch receivers, and a set of keys. The Diversitech adapter sleeve is designed to be used with Diversitech locking ball mounts. Diversitech locking ball mounts are available for 2 inch hitches and have retractable pins that are activated using the lock on the front. However, if you have a 2-1/2 inch hitch on larger, newer 3-1/4 one ton trucks, you will need this adapter kit. What the adapter kit is going to allow us to do is fit the sleeve over the ball mount, and lock the pins into place.
Next well be able to take this new assembly and install it on 2-1/2 inch hitch. We can take our new ball mount assembly, slide it into this 2-1/2 inch hitch on a GMC Sierra 3500. Just line up the pin holes like we normally would, take our locking pin that came with our adapter kit, push it through, and lock the lock. Now we are able to use one of our Diversitech 2 inch self locking ball mounts in a larger 2-1/2 inch hitch. .
