Today were going to take a look at one of Chariots Child Transport Systems, the CX1 with the Stroller Front Kit, part number CH208404.There are three layers for the roof of the CX1. The first layer is a clear rain shield that will help keep rain or snow outside of the carrier. It uses a hook-and-loop strip at the bottom and zippers all the way up to side. When not in use, the rain shield can be rolled up and stored at the top of the carrier. Up at the top are two elastic loops that you can use to secure the cover when youre not using it. The next layer is the mesh screen.
The mesh screen is designed to keep bugs and debris out from the inside of the carrier. Chariot recommends you always use this screen if you have it setup as a bike trailer, that way, any debris kicked up from the tire of your bicycle wont be flung inside. Theres also two glow-in-the-dark strips on the front to help with night time visibility as well as some reflective silver piping. At the bottom, instead of using traditional hook-and-loop, theyve gone for molded plastic clips. This way, its quieter when you open it up so if the child falls asleep, hopefully we wont disturb it.
The screen layer could also be rolled up and tucked out of the way. And, finally, is the three-section sun awning. Theres a tinted vinyl visor, a solid fabric awning and another tinted visor up at the top. You can roll up the first tinted visor and secure it with the loops to add more visibility. You can roll up the entire sun awning and use the second set of loops up at the top of the carrier to secure it for a fully open system.Inside, youll find a single five-point harness system to secure your child inside the carrier.
Theres a one-piece seat pad that covers the back and the bottom and is removable in case you need to wash it. Theres a hook-and-loop strap on the back of the pad to secure it in place. Portions of the pad and the flooring are also fleece-lined, so even on those chilly days; your child can stay warm. Inside on either side are meshed storage pockets for storing snacks and toys.The side window is again a tinted vinyl; however, on the CX models it can be completely removed exposing a meshed window to allow more airflow inside. On the side theres also more reflective trim and a glow-in-the-dark panel to help with night time visibility.
The CX line uses a black 20-inch tire and wheel setup. Painted on the sidewalls is another reflective strip for more night time visibility.Theres a quick release on the wheel, simply push in the black button and the wheel slides off. Inside youll see one of the features exclusive to the CX line and thats the drum brakes. Theyre on both sides on the rear axle and they also double as a parking brake.You can also see the adjustable leaf spring suspension system. Theres four different weight ranges so you can adjust the suspension system to best suit your child. The brakes are operated via hand break like you have on a bicycle. If you pull the handle all the way, theres a button that you can press that will lock the handle and the brakes double as a parking brake. The hand brake system is particularly useful if you set it up and use it as a jogger when going down a steep incline.The CX line features and accessory bag up top. This is available as an option on other models, but its included with the CX line. Underneath is a large storage bag. Its angled back so that if you use it as a jogger, youll have plenty of foot room below. You can lower it and use it as a storage area. Its big enough to carry toys, snacks, diaper bags and purses. It uses an elastic band lid to fit around the aluminum frame tight. Theres locking cam levers that will lock the basket in either the raised or lowered position. To move it, unlock the lever, pull the bag, and lock it again.This kit comes bundled with the stroller wheels. These small wheels make maneuvering inside stores and malls easy. The wheels could also be stored on top of the hub in case you want to convert it to a bicycle trailer or a jogging stroller. Push the button in on the side of the hub and the stroller drops out. Just flip it over and reinsert on the top of the hub.The CX1 is also compatible with all of the five front mount kits. It could be used as a stroller, a jogger, a hiking carrier, a bicycle trailer, or even a cross-country skiing carrier.That does it for the Chariot CX1 with stroller kit, part number CH208404.
