Here we have one of Chariots Child Transport Systems. Its the Cougar 2 with the Jogging Stroller Kit, part number CH930142.This kit comes bundled with a Cougar 2 Chassis, as well as the Jogging Stroller Front End.There are three different roofs built into the Cougar 2 Chasse. The outermost layer is a clear rain shield that will keep rain and moisture out from inside the carrier. It can be rolled up and stored out of the way. At the top of the carrier chasse are two elastic bands that you can use to secure the rain shield. The second layer is the screen.
Chariot always recommends using this screen if you have the carrier set up in the bicycle trailer configuration to help keep rock and debris kicked up from your bike tire from hitting your child inside. On the front edge are two strips of glow-in-the-dark material so its easier to see the carrier at night. It secures to the front edge of the chasse with molded plastic clips and not hook-and-loop type systems that are noisier and might wake up a sleeping child. It too can be rolled up and stored at the top of the chasis. And, finally, theres a sun visor.
It has a solid awning that comes over the top and a tinted visor to help protect your child from the sun. It too can be rolled up and stored out of the way at the top of the carrier. Again, theres a set of elastic straps to secure the sun visor.Inside the carrier, youll find two five-point harnesses that you can use to secure your children. It can also be reconfigured with one five-point harness if you only have to take one child. At the top is a mesh screen thats breathable that will allow more air flow inside.
It also allows space for a childs helmet, so that when using it as a bike trailer, the helmet isnt pushed forward on to the face. Theres a padded seat back and a padded seat bottom thats also removable in case you need to wash it. It uses three hook-and-loop-strips on the sides and in the center to secure it. It can be easily removed, washed, and then to reinstall it, just fit it in and push it down into the hook and loop.On either side of the interior is a meshed storage pocket for holding toys and snacks. Theres also an adjustable window vent to control the air flow in and out to help keep your child comfortable.
The Cougar 2 features a larger 20-inch rear wheel. Its bigger than many strollers out there which will make it easier when jogging or going down rough terrain to help keep the carrier stable and keeping it from tipping over. It also quickly removes for storage with a push of a button.The Cougar 2 also features an adjustable leaf spring suspension system. It can be set up at four different weight ranges to help make the childs ride more comfortable.Theres plenty of storage on the Cougar 2 model. There are two cam levers on either side of the rear frame that you flip open to either lower or raise the rear cargo bag. Once you have it in the desired position, youll flip the cam levers back down and it will be locked into place.At the rear is a large cargo bed where they lead it structures over the aluminum frame. Inside is plenty of storage space for toys, snacks or diaper bags. Higher up on the back, youll find another meshed pocket with elastic bands to secure items inside. Theres also a smaller stitch pocket that you can use to hold your cell phone, wallet or keys that way you can keep them handy and secure. Theres also a safety wrist strap that you can put around your wrist when jogging or strolling so that the carrier doesnt get away from you. It can be stored in the meshed pocket when not used. For jogging, we can take the storage bag at the back and fold it up so you have plenty of foot room. Youll also find three straps on the back of the cargo bag. This is so you can store the 12-inch jogging wheel from the jogger conversion kit. The bag has a reflective strip across the middle and theres also more glow-in-the-dark material at the back to help with visibility.At the bottom on the rear axle, youll find the foot operated parking brake. Push down to set the parking brake and pull up to release it.The handle bar can be flipped over to set in one or two height positions. Simply push the push button detents in, pull the handle out, flip it over and reinsert. That way, the handle bar can be set up to be comfortable for mom or dad.This kit comes bundled with the jogger front-end. It features two aluminum arms that attached to the Chariot hub system and a 12 tire. This is removed with a cam lever skewer just like the front wheel on your bicycle. It can then be attached to the straps in the rear for storage. Back at the front, the jogger arms just use a push button detente to slide out of the hub.For storage, the jogging arms can be slipped back into the hub that way, if you need it to convert it to the stroller version when you get to the mall, youll have a place to store the legs. To break the system down for transport or storage, first well pop off the rear wheels, then well pull on the red knobs and open the frame up so that we can collapse it.
