Today Im going to show you how to install Putcos new G2 LED Day Liner. First thing you want to do is lay out the tools youll need for this installation. These are the tools for the Silverado, Sierra, Suburban and Tahoe. Set of pliers, 7mm ratchet, 10mm ratchet and a flathead screwdriver. The first step in the installation process is removing the eight clips that attach to the top cover. You simply remove with a flathead screwdriver.
After the top cover has been removed, I found it a lot easier if you remove the grill from the vehicle. It makes it a lot easier pulling the headlight out. To remove the grill, theres four bolts on the top, and actually some clips on the back. After the four bolts have been removed from the top, release the clips that are holding the grill in place, use a set of pliers to push in the middle and then release the clip. Its good to have a little bit of outward tension on it so you know when its released.
After the grill has been removed, theres two 10mm bolts that you have to remove that attach the headlight to the radiator support. The next step is to remove the 7mm bolt and the 10mm bolt inside the thunder well. The 7mm bolt is located on top and the 10mm bolt is located in the middle. After the thunder well bolts have been removed, theres a 10mm bolt inside the thunder well. Dont remove it, just loosen it.
And this is actually a guideline for the thunder well to slide back in. You just loosen it about half the way out. Now with all the bolts have been removed or loosened, its time for the headlight to come out. Pull straight forward, might take a little finesse but it will come. Once you have the headlight out, now you can remove the bolt sockets, the stipple clips.
Now that the headlight is free, go ahead and remove the alcohol wipes that are included in the packaging to prep the surface. This will help the adhesion of the 3M backing on the G2 Day Liner.Now that the headlight is prepped, go ahead and peel the back, on the back of the G2 Day Liner. Wire it up to the headlight making sure thats down toward the bottom line. Now that the G2 Day Liner is installed onto the headlight, now its time to wire it up. Were going to wire it up to the top running light on the vehicle. Youre going to slice the black wire off the Day Liner into the black wire off the socket, and the red power wire to the brown wire on the socket.Use the T-taps provided in your G2 Day Liner kit. Now that your LED Day Liner is wired up, reverse the installation process and youre complete. Now that weve installed the G2 LED Day Liner on both sides of the vehicle, were now ready to install all the remaining screws and the factory grill back into the vehicle. Now your installation of your Putco G2 LED Day Liner is complete. .
