Installation of an EGR AeroWrap Bug Shield on a 1997 Ford F-250

Today we are going to do an install on a 1997 Ford F250 and we are going to install an EGR bug shield for it. We are going to be using today, part number 323011, and we will go through the steps involved to install it. Our first step will be to go ahead and put the bug shield on the hood and just check out where the holes line up on the hood.

Next, we will install our screw plugs into the hood. Next, what we will do is well go ahead and install the bug shield loosely on the screw plugs and then we will look for our final alignment. Keep everything loose so you can move it back and forth. Once you place the bug shield on the hood, and set it on the hood the way you want it, then go ahead and tighten down the first four screws which will set it in place. Then we will work on the last two fasteners. Alright, we will do the last two fasteners here. They are a little bit different. This requires cleaning the hood in a couple of spots, applying some abrasive resistant tape, and a special clip that will slide on the hood and the bug shield.

This will be the tape that will go over here and we will fold it over like this, and this will be the clip that will slide over the hood. Get the right orientation. And it will go over it and hold everything in place. Lets go ahead and clean the hood up. Now we will do the other side. Do our adhesive strips, half on half over. Go do our other side. We will install our clip. It is kind of hard to see but there is a little hook in there, and that will latch into there and this will go into the hood, and keep it at the proper spacing.

Once you get the last two fasteners on there, the last thing you want to do is check for hood clearance. Open the hood up and shut it like you would normally and check for any clearance issues. And you can check for bottoming out if there are any marks on the bug shield. It looks like there are none here, so it looks like we are in good shape. If you did have problems you may want to go ahead and adjust your bumper stops to raise your hood up just a little bit to make the extra clearance. Other than that this is a done deal.
