Review of the Yakima SpareTire Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Today on our 2012 Jeep Wrangler, we'll be test fitting part number Y02598, the Yakima SpareTime 2 Bike Carrier. Now, we've already removed our spare tire from the vehicle and the center cap from the spare tire itself. We can then go ahead and install the bike rack mounting point and re-install our spare tire. And with our spare tire re-installed, we'll simply slide the bike rack carrier over its mounting point and tighten up the red knob to secure it to our vehicle. And with the knob tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle and we're ready to load it up. We'll need only to open up the bike rack arms and then undo the straps, exposing the cradles.

We'll then set our bike into the cradles and bring the straps around, securing it to the bike rack. And in just those few easy steps, our bike is loaded and we're ready to hit the road. And that completes part number Y02598, the Yakima SpareTime 2 Bike Carrier on our 2012 Jeep Wrangler.

Thule Spare Me Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack Review - 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Today on our 2012 Jeep Wrangler, we'll be test fitting the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Carrier, part number TH963XTR. Now, we've gone ahead and removed the spare tire as the mount will be located underneath the spare. So we'll go ahead and install our bike rack mount. We can then reinstall our spare. We will want to make sure that we knock the center cap out of the wheel as the mount does pass through it. And with our mount in and our spare tire reattached, we can go ahead and slide our bike rack into position and tighten it down using the black knob.
