Today on this 2011 Jeep Patriot were going to do a quick test fit of the Yakima load bars. Well be using the Yakima 48 inch load bars with the Yakima Rail Grab Towers. We have them preassembled per the manufacturers instruction, and well go ahead and place them on the factory rails on our vehicle here. Now you definitely want to make sure and check the documentation that comes with your factory roof rack first for how much weight you can put on it, and where you can locate the bars. Also you want to do the same thing with any accessories that you want to put on top of a Yakima load bars. Make sure to have proper spacing as well.
Well go ahead and install the first bar. There are marks on the factory roof rack, so well use those to line up our first rail. Once we have it correct front to rear well go ahead and make sure everythings correct left to right. The first ones in place, lets go ahead and do the second one. Well measure off our first rail to make sure theyre square.
Once again well make sure they are centered left to right as well. Once we have everything set up the way we want it we can go ahead and fasten it down to the factory roof rack. There are two screws that are inside the tower. Theres a silver screw that actually tightens down the tower to the crossbar and then theres a black screw that actually tightens the tower to the factory roof rack. Well do the silver one first and then the black one.
When were done we can go ahead and snap the cover into place. Well go and do the remaining towers next. In a few steps our roof rack is already installed and ready for service. Next well give you a measurement to give you an idea of height thats added to the vehicle. It looks like it will add two and a quarter inches to the height of the vehicle, measuring off the top of the factory roof rack.
