Today on this 2008 Pontiac Vibe, were going to do a test fit of the Yakima Roof Rack System. Well be using 48-inch crossbars and use the Yakima RailGrab Towers. Were going to start off our test fit with our roof system already loosely assembled according to instructions. Now lets go ahead and place them on the factory roof rack. Well start off with our first crossbar going towards the front windshield. And to make our bars square, well go ahead and measure off a point on the factory roof rack to each center of the crossbar.
Ok, when were finished with the first one well go ahead and move on to the second crossbar. Well repeat same steps as the first one except that well measure off the center first one to the center of the second crossbar to make sure theyre square. Now this measurement will vary with the accessories that youre using. This test fit will be using a dimension of 21 inches. With the crossbars in place, we can go ahead and tighten them down.
When weve tightened them down, well open the door on the side and therell be two screws. Therell be a black one that tightens the RailGrab to the factory rail and theres a silver one that tightens down the cross rail to the RailGrab. Ok, and thats what it takes to install the roof rack. Now well give one more measurement that adds to the height of the roof rack. Measurement will be 2-1/4 inches.
And with that, that will finish it for our test fit of the Yakima Roof Rack System on our 2008 Pontiac Vibe.
